At the heart of the success in Conroe ISD is the District’s philosophy of “All Means ALL.” Dr. Don Stockton who retired as the District Superintendent in 2018 set a clear vision for the District in that, “Students graduate with confidence and competence; they are successful in our schools and after they graduate. All students should feel that all adults care about their success.” In his 33 years in Conroe ISD, Dr. Stockton’s motto remained consistent, “Every student matters; all of them.”

The legacy of “All Means ALL” continues under the leadership of Dr. Curtis Null the District’s Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Null has 19 years of experience in education, serving 22 years in Conroe ISD. He has served as assistant superintendent of Secondary Education, principal of Conroe High School, principal of Peet Junior High School, assistant principal at Knox Junior High School and athletic trainer at The Woodlands High School.

At present, under the leadership of Dr. Null, Conroe ISD has over 73,000+ students with an anticipated increase of approximately 1,500 students per year. Our students arrive at one of our 71 campuses with two new elementary schools opening in fall 2025.

Conroe ISD offers a comprehensive core academic program, a vast array of athletics, a cutting edge Career and Technical Education curriculum, and a slate of fine arts courses to meet the needs and interests of all students. The District’s graduation rate of 97.3% is one of the highest in Texas. In 2024, Conroe ISD was named by NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education (for the 12th time) while 30 students were recognized by TMEA as All-State Musicians. Three of our high schools were in the Top 25 of the UIL Lone Star Cup Final Standings and a total of 38 students from across the District were National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists in 2024. Two teams, one from Vogel Intermediate and one from Knox Junior High became Global Champions at Destination Imagination 2024 in Kansas City.

In addition, Conroe ISD has been ranked on the Forbes list of America’s Best Large Employers for 2024. The District was rated 37th out of the 600 largest employers and is the only school district among the top 200. Ranked 5th in the State of Texas, Conroe ISD scored behind only Cook Children’s HealthCare System (3), Houston Methodist (7), H-E-B (23), and Keller Williams Realty (29).  Ysleta ISD in El Paso was the only other K-12 school system on the list at 229th.

Conroe ISD has implemented Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), which are ongoing processes wherein educators work collaboratively to evaluate recurring cycles of data to ensure student learning occurs and achieve better results for all students they serve. The work of PLCs includes intentional and continuous staff learning, which is essential in order for staff to make improvements to their own practice and truly impact student learning at higher levels. PLCs are action oriented, committed to continuous improvement, and results oriented. The three big ideas of a PLC include a focus on learning, creating a collaborative culture, and results-oriented thinking to address intervention and/or enrichment needs for students, as well as determine ongoing adult training. The District also provides District-level, content-specific academic instructional coaches to assist and support teachers.

Conroe ISD is committed to excellence in teacher development through a comprehensive, quality staff development program. The Curriculum, Instruction, and Staff Development Department incorporates the Conroe ISD Instructional Modelpdf with research based best practices, emphasizing Differentiated Instruction. In addition to the District-wide staff development workshops, professionals in the department provide feeder-based and individual campus staff development based on the needs determined by the campus administration and the Campus Site Based Decision Making Committee in their Campus Improvement Plans and student achievement data. In addition to the countless workshops provided during the course of the school year, Conroe ISD employees also have the option of attending over 300 staff development sessions offered throughout the summer. Conroe ISD also offers the Novice Teacher Academy (NTApdf), which is a two year program designed for novice teachers in their first full year of teaching. The District is committed to developing new teachers’ knowledge and skills as a teacher. A professional learning path has been created for our novice teachers, emphasizing best practices in instruction and content pedagogy. NTA is composed of courses that have been selected to help new teachers grow and to reinforce District initiatives, including PBIS: Effective Classroom and Behavior Management. New teachers are also paired with mentor teachers to assist them during the two year NTA. The Conroe ISD Education Foundation grants Continuing Education scholarships to Conroe ISD educators who seek an advanced degree. The Foundation also provides scholarships to Bilingual and Special Education Instructional Paraprofessionals who seek to further their careers by earning and undergraduate degree. Each scholarship provides funds toward tuition, fees, books, and any other qualified expenses. Furthermore, the Conroe ISD Human Resources Department offers the Grow Our Own scholarship program, which are grant funded scholarships awarded to current Conroe ISD employees who are willing to obtain certifications in certain shortage areas. Furthermore, Conroe ISD encourages leadership opportunities among employees. The Aspiring Leadership Programs are a set of staff development offerings for Conroe ISD employees who are Aspiring Administrators or Aspiring Leaders interested in developing leadership skills in their current positions or in becoming assistant principals, curriculum coordinators, counselors, diagnosticians, specialists, or other leadership roles. Other opportunities for growth and leadership include presenting campus and District-wide staff development, leadership cadres, and membership in numerous campus and District level committees. The Human Resources Department partners with Lone Star College, Sam Houston State University, and the University of Houston to provide information and assistance to all paraprofessional and auxiliary employees who are interested in obtaining their Bachelor’s degree and teaching certification. Conroe ISD believes in a growth mindset and demonstrates that belief in the myriad opportunities available to employees.

Currently, Conroe ISD is home to 71 campuses over 348 square miles. Every campus in Conroe ISD is either newly built or recently renovated to provide a safe, welcoming environment for employees to work and students to learn.

Additionally, Conroe ISD believes strongly that the integration of technology in the classroom supports and enhances the teaching and learning process. Students have access to iPads (PK-1st Grade) and Chromebooks (2nd-12th Grade) for digital classroom integration. Conroe ISD’s Instructional Technology Department is available to support teachers on instructional technology best practices, including professional learning and classroom modeling and coaching.

At their Special Board Meeting on August 1, 2023, the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to put four propositions on the November 7th ballot for a bond referendum. The projects comprising Bond 2023 were identified by a Bond Planning Committee comprised of 148 community members, parents, students, business owners, and employees. Conroe ISD received the highest award for financial transparency ten years in a row from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Additionally, Conroe ISD has received a rating of “A” for “Superior Achievement” for the 21st consecutive year under Texas’ School FIRST Financial accountability rating systems scoring 98 out of a possible 100 points. Conroe ISD proudly offers all qualifying employees an excellent benefits package, including a Section 125 Flexible Benefit Plan, 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans, a wellbeing program, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Self-funded group medical coverage and pharmacy benefits are administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Currently, Conroe ISD contributes $446 per month, per employee toward medical insurance premiums, making the cost of employee only coverage as low as $94 per month. Supplemental benefits such as dental, accident, vision, cancer, disability, hospital indemnity, and life insurance are also available.

Employees can work toward their best physical, mental, emotional and financial health through the Conroe ISD Healthy You wellbeing program, which consists of seasonal challenges, video learning courses, and access to recipes, videos, and articles. An Employee Health Fair is hosted annually.

Conroe ISD is located in the Houston, Texas metropolitan area. The geographic areas of the District are diverse and include The Woodlands, Shenandoah, Oak Ridge, Conroe, Grangerland, as well as several other smaller towns, communities, and unincorporated areas. The area has plenty to offer people of all ages including cultural and entertainment amenities, such as the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands and both the Historic Crighton Theatre and Owen Theatre in Conroe. Lake Conroe is a short drive, as is The Woodlands Mall and The Woodlands Waterway.
