Two Director Positions Named at Board Meeting

At their April meeting, the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees named a new Director of Athletics and a new Director of Bilingual and ESL Programs.

Gilberto Lozano Gilberto Lozano, current principal at Hope Elementary, was named the new Director of Bilingual and ESL Programs. Prior to his current role, Mr. Lozano has also served as principal of Anderson, Patterson, and Milam Elementary. In addressing the Board, Gilberto stated, “I am beyond honored for the opportunity to begin a new chapter in Conroe ISD as the Director of Bilingual and ESL Programs. I look forward to leading our school district and providing the difference for our students – hard work, perseverance, guidance, and inspiration.”

The current director, Dayren Carlisle, will be transitioning over as the new Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Staff Development for Conroe ISD.

The Trustees also approved Chris Feris to be the new Director of Athletics. Chris will be assuming the role held by Danny Long who is set to retire in June of 2022 after 42 years of service in education.

Mr. Feris is currently the Athletic Director in Birdville ISD which is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In 2016, he was named the Texas High SchoolChris Feris Athletic Director Association Athletic Director of the Year, and, this summer, he will be inducted in the Texas High School Athletic Director Association Hall of Honor.

In his remarks to the Board, Mr. Feris said, “Thank you for this tremendous opportunity. I am grateful and feel honored to join the Conroe Independent School District and look forward to contributing to the successes and traditions we have even heard about tonight of this great district.”
