Trustees Name Two High School Principals at May Board Meeting
At their meeting on Tuesday, May 17, the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees named the principals of Conroe High School 9th Grade Campus and Oak Ridge High School.
Mr. Kevin Meyer was named principal of Conroe High School 9th Grade Campus. He is filling the position held by Mr. James “Buddy” Bush who will be transitioning to the principal of Grand Oaks High School next school year.
In addressing the Board, Mr. Meyer thanked them and stated, “It is humbling to be given any opportunity to lead within this amazing district. Conroe High School and its community are wonderful places, full of truly great people. I look forward to working with Dr. Smith and the Conroe High School 9th Grade Campus and continuing to support our kids on their path to greatness. Sic ’em, Tigers.”
Mr. Meyer began his career in Conroe ISD in 2020. Prior to being named principal of Conroe High School 9th Grade Campus, he has served as an assistant principal and associate principal for school operations.
Mr. Shawn Almond, current principal at Oak Ridge High School 9th Grade Campus, was named principal of Oak Ridge High School. Current principal Dr. AJ LiVecchi was recently named principal of Conroe ISD’s Virtual School opening in August 2022.
In his remarks to the Board, Mr. Almond shared, “I’m excited, humbled, and honored to be named the principal at Oak Ridge High School. To the War Eagle Nation, I look forward to leading and working with you as we continue to equip, develop, and grow our students into strong leaders who will make a positive impact on our community, State, and Nation in the future. The students and staff of Oak Ridge are truly special. Thank you again for this opportunity and be on the lookout for War Eagles soaring to new heights.”
Mr. Almond began his career in Conroe ISD in 2015. Prior to being named principal of Oak Ridge High School, he has served as an assistant principal, associate principal for school operations, and principal of the 9th grade campus.
