The Woodlands High School Earns 2023 UIL Lone Star Cup

CONROE, TEXAS (July 5, 2023) – The Woodlands High School clinched the Class 6A 2023 UIL Lone Star Cup, the ninth in school history, for its outstanding performances across all University Interscholastic League (UIL) academic and athletic competitions.

The Highlanders earned 117 points, finishing ahead of Allen (98), Southlake Carroll (90), Keller (83), and Katy Seven Lakes (79). TWHS has won four of the last six Lone Star Cups (2017, 2018, 2021, 2023), after previously winning five in a six-year span (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).

TWHS won district championships in boys and girls soccer, boys and girls swimming and diving, boys and girls golf, and baseball, while tying for the district championship in volleyball. The Highlanders went on to win the state championship in girls swimming and diving.

The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL Classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A), based on their team performance in district and state academic and athletic championships. Standings include results from Academic State, Baseball, Basketball, Congress, Cross Country, Film, Football, Golf, Marching Band, Mariachi, Military Marching Band, One-Act Play, Robotics (FIRST & BEST), Soccer, Softball, Spirit, Swimming & Diving, Team Tennis, Tennis, Theatrical Design, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Wrestling.
