Conroe ISD will hold a public hearing on the preliminary 2019-2020 budget on Tuesday, August 6, at 6 p.m. Key components of the proposed budget include a salary increase for employees as well as funds for a Capital Maintenance Fund. CFO Darrin Rice will also provide information on the 2019-2020 proposed tax rate of $1.235 which is $.045 lower than the 2018-2019 tax rate.
The Board of Trustees may also hold a Special Board Meeting on August 13 to receive information about a potential bond referendum. The draft proposal reflects feedback from the community and includes $315.8 M for new campuses and additions, $242.6 M for campus renovations, $44.7 M for safety and security projects, $25 M for district support service’s needs, and $29 M for land and contingency. A second proposition is also being considered which would consist of artificial turf at the District’s high schools to allow members of the community to vote on the item separately.
Should the Board choose to meet on August 13 and approve the current draft proposal consisting of the two propositions, there would be no tax rate increase for Conroe ISD residents if approved by the voters. The Board of Trustees will make a decision by August 19 about whether to call a bond for the November ballot.
