Conroe ISD Earns Best Communities for Music Education Award
CONROE, TEXAS (April 18, 2024) – The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation named Conroe ISD as a recipient of the Best Communities for Music Education Award for a 12th time.
“I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their support of Fine Arts that allow for opportunities like this to be possible,” Dr. Bob Horton, CISD Director of Fine Arts said. “We are one of 112 districts in Texas to earn this distinction, placing us among the top 10 percent in the state, and one of a very few to earn this award for over 10 years.”
“We really appreciate the value our music educators bring, not only to our kids and our schools, but our community at large,” Trustee Datren Williams said. “Fine arts and music are always part of what makes us who we are, makes our kids well-rounded, and makes us a fantastic community, as well as a school district. None of this would be possible without the hard work and dedication, and as much love as our teachers put into their passion that is music education.”
The Best Communities for Music Education Award is a signature program of The NAMM Foundation that recognizes and celebrates school districts and schools for their support and commitment to music education and their efforts to ensure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education. Throughout the program’s 25 years, the foundation has recognized over 1,000 school districts and schools, combined, in 43 states.
The schools and communities recognized by the Best Communities for Music Education demonstrate a commitment to ensuring music learning opportunities are available for every student and provide an example for other communities to follow.
