CISD Board of Trustees Approves Attendance Boundaries
The CISD Board of Trustees approved the recommendation from the Attendance Boundary Committee (ABC) for the new Oak Ridge/Grand Oaks feeder zones at their meeting on Tuesday which coincides with the opening of three new campuses in the area in the next two years.
Lucille J. Bradley Elementary, located at 4200 Falls Lake Drive, will open in August of 2017 and serve students in kindergarten through grade 4. In August of 2018, CISD will open two campuses: Flex 18, an intermediate level campus serving grades 5 and 6, located at Trench Lane and Woodson’s Reserve Parkway, and Grand Oaks High School, located at 4800 Riley Fuzzel.
The District established the ABC to study the student growth and develop a recommendation to make to the Board for the attendance zones for the new schools. A total of nine community forums were held during October, November, December and January. The committee also received over 1,000 comments online.
Trustee John Husbands thanked everyone on the Committee along with Dr. Chris Hines, Deputy Superintendent of Operations, for their efforts in the process.
Trustee Scott Moore added to the sentiment by stating, “I’d also like to thank those parents and community members that took the time to voice their opinion, to come out to the public forums, to fill out the form on the website, and to write the email.”
The new attendance zones can be viewed on the District’s website at https://www.conroeisd.net/about/attendance-boundary-process/.
