CCHS’s Baylee Cammack Makes National Speech & Debate Semifinals

Baylee Cammack National Speech and Debate TournamentCaney Creek High School 2023 graduate Baylee Cammack finished among the top four at the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament in Phoenix.

The event is the country’s largest academic tournament and had a record 1,035 competitors this year. Cammack survived 13 rounds over two days, becoming the first in Caney Creek history to advance all the way to the semifinals. In the double-elimination format, she was one of only two undefeated students remaining through 10 rounds.

Cammack was coached by CCHS journalism teacher Stephen Green and social studies teacher Joseph Collatos. She was also assisted by her fellow CCHS competitors Breshad Robinson, Steven Brown, and Colby Seitze to prepare for each round as she continued to advance.
