Dear Conroe ISD Families,
Thank you for choosing Conroe ISD and trusting us with your children’s education. As we embark on a new school year, our entire team is thrilled to welcome students back to campus. We remain dedicated to nurturing both academic excellence and strong character in every child.
BUILDING A POSITIVE CLASSROOM CULTURE FIRST
All students deserve an exceptional, safe, and supportive environment in which to learn. We know that creating this environment begins with proactive, positive practices in the classroom. While headlines often focus on rare instances of negative behavior, our top priorities remain fixed on safety, sense of value, and support for every child.
This year, Conroe ISD is taking strong, proactive steps to establish clear and consistent behavioral expectations across all schools:
Staff & Campus Training: As part of our Beginning of Year training, all campus staff are being trained on The Standard of Classroom Culture, equipping teachers with concrete tools to manage classrooms proactively.
Positive Connections: Our educators prioritize building strong, positive connections with students first. When behavior misaligns with expectations, corrections are delivered consistently, calmly, privately, and in an instructional manner.
A UNIFIED DISCIPLINE MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK
To ensure fairness, clarity, and equity across every campus and feeder pattern, Conroe ISD has created a unified Discipline Management Framework. This shared system creates reliable guardrails for all students, protecting the learning environment while keeping expectations high.
Our ultimate goal is to prevent and mitigate disruptions before they impede learning and ideally, to resolve issues so effectively that we never have to call you regarding a disciplinary concern. However, when behavior impacts the safety or learning of others, staff will hold students accountable through instructional guidance and progressive, consistent consequences.
WE NEED YOUR PARTNERSHIP & SUPPORT
This process is most effective when high behavioral expectations are reinforced both at school and at home. Thank you for the important role you play in your child's growth and success. Your support makes a difference, and we encourage you to talk through these important expectations for student behavior at home to help your child have a successful school year.
Respect & Cooperation: Be respectful toward all staff and classmates, and cooperate with requests from teachers and administrators.
Positive Environment: Follow classroom and school rules, refrain from disruptions or physical aggression, and report any unsafe behavior.
Policies: Abide by the No Electronics policy/law and keep all prohibited items (weapons, drugs, vapes, etc.) off campus.
Representing the School: Maintain these same high standards during all extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
Student ID Badges: Students are expected to wear their school-issued ID badge at all times while on campus. IDs help us quickly identify students, maintain a secure campus, and ensure everyone belongs where they are.
PERSONAL COMMUNICATION DEVICES
The state law restricting student use of personal communication devices took effect last school year, and those expectations remain in place. For this school year, Conroe ISD has updated the consequences for violations to provide greater consistency across elementary, intermediate, junior high, and high school campuses.
Students and families should review these expectations before the first day of school. Consequences increase with repeated violations and may include device confiscation, parent pickup, detention, parent meetings, ISS, and additional disciplinary action depending on the grade level and number of offenses.
We ask families to help us reinforce these expectations at home so students can stay focused on learning and avoid unnecessary disciplinary consequences.
SAFETY & EXPECTATIONS ON THE BUS
Our focus on consistency extends to every part of the school day, including district transportation. Riding the school bus is a privilege, and safety is paramount. All Conroe ISD bus drivers are trained in Bus CHAMPS to maintain clear, posted expectations on every route. Campuses utilize instructional videos to teach these rules, and drivers celebrate students who model great behavior through our “Riding Right Rockstars” recognition program.
Our first priority remains that every child has a safe, focused, and joyful learning environment every single day. By setting clear expectations together, we can prevent disruptions, support our teachers, and give your child the outstanding educational experience they deserve.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let's set the Texas Standard for Character, Behavior and Excellence!
Sincerely,
David Vinson
