Library Services

The mission of the Conroe ISD school library program is to ensure that all students and staff are effective users of ideas and information enabling them to be life-long learners. Library Services supports student achievement through the acquisition of print and digital media aligned with TEKS based curriculum in all content areas. Students use campus and district-wide library resources to develop skills in information literacy and an appreciation of reading. District staff use library resources for research and curriculum development.

Board Policy

Library Materials Challenges and Removals

A Challenge to Library Materials may be submitted using the provided Challenge Form- Library Materials. Forms can be submitted to the Coordinator of Library Services at library@conroeisd.net.

The Board of Trustees shall take action on a written challenge at the first open meeting of the board held after the 90th day after the date on which school district receives a written challenge.

The following library books received Requests for Reconsiderations (Challenges).

The following titles have been reviewed at the District level through the Informal reconsideration process as set out in Board Policy EFB Local Instructional Resources-Library Materials (November 2023). Books that do not meet the selection criteria set out in Board Policy EFB Local, or that have low circulation, are in poor physical condition or that are dated are removed from library collections. The references to selection criteria numbers below will reflect the selection criteria of the policy in effect at the time the review occurred.

The following titles have been weeded at the District level in compliance with Board Policy EMB(Local) which took effect July 2025.

Library Materials Acquisition

New Library materials recommended for purchase will be posted for 30 days prior to purchase on the Library Services webpage to give staff, students, parents, and community members an opportunity to review and comment on the materials prior to purchase. Comments must be submitted by completing the District’s form, which can be found at the link below. All comments received within the 30-day comment period will be reviewed and considered prior to finalizing the purchase. The posting will be updated as purchase orders are submitted.
