Recognized Among Nation’s Most Outstanding Career and Technical Education Programs
Conroe, Texas — Conroe High School has been named a 2026 SkillsUSA Model of Excellence, one of the highest honors awarded by SkillsUSA. The recognition places Conroe High School among the top SkillsUSA programs in the nation for its outstanding achievement in developing students’ workplace readiness and leadership skills.
The Models of Excellence program highlights schools that demonstrate exceptional integration of Personal, Workplace, and Technical Skills through student-led chapter activities. Conroe High School earned this distinction in the Workplace Skills category, reflecting the program’s strong emphasis on communication, teamwork, professionalism, and real-world problem solving.
This honor represents the culmination of intentional work by students and instructors to bring learning beyond the classroom. Through SkillsUSA, students take the lead in planning and executing projects that mirror real workplace expectations. While instructors provide guidance, students are responsible for the vision, execution, and evaluation of their work—preparing them for success in both careers and continued education.
“Being named a Model of Excellence is
a testament to the dedication of our students and the strength of our Career and Technical Education programs,” said CTE Director, Tally Stout. “Our students are not only learning technical skills, but also developing the leadership and workplace habits that will set them apart in their future careers.”
Conroe High School will represent Texas at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) this June in Atlanta, Georgia. During the conference, students will present their chapter’s work to a panel of judges, who will evaluate their goals, student-led action plans, results, and overall impact. The top three schools in each category will be announced during the national awards session.
This national recognition reinforces the district’s commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers through hands-on learning, industry-aligned programs, and leadership development opportunities.
