Dear Conroe ISD Family,

Keeping you informed is one of my highest priorities. When shifts occur that may impact our district family, I want you to hear about them from me first. More importantly, I want to reassure you that every decision we make is being approached with deep care, deliberate thought, and a commitment to the people who make Conroe ISD what it is.

Across our state, public schools are experiencing a shift. After years of steady growth, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) projects a slight decline in statewide enrollment due to changing demographics. We see the impact of this in our neighboring districts, some of which are facing school closures or the cancellation of recruitment events.

I want to be very clear: Conroe ISD is in a different position. While others are closing doors, we are preparing to open new ones. Because of our specific needs, we are opening multiple schools over the next two years and will move forward with our annual Job Fair on March 28th at Grand Oaks High School.

Despite our relative strength, we are not entirely immune to these statewide trends. This year, we have seen a slight dip in enrollment, and our projections for the Fall of 2026 suggest static growth. In the Texas funding model, our resources are tied directly to the number of students in our classrooms. As a result, we are proactively planning to work our way out of a potential financial deficit budget.

Above all else, I want to reassure you that your position with us is secure. We are sharing these updates to keep you informed, not to cause concern. Please know how much you are appreciated; you are an indispensable part of the work we do, and we are so grateful to have you with us as we continue to serve our students and support each other.

While these challenges are real, they also offer us an opportunity to look inward. Our goal isn't simply to "reduce" it is to rethink how we work so we can better support you.

As we navigate these budget conversations, please know that our people are at the center of every discussion.

  • Prioritizing Stability: We aim to manage necessary staffing adjustments through natural vacancies whenever possible.

  • Faculty and Staff Support: We are looking closely at ways to provide our teachers with much-needed relief from the "extra duties" that have increased in recent years.

  • Job Security: I have already begun speaking personally with any team members who may be most directly affected, including our district curriculum coaches. My message to them is the same one I have for you: You have a place here! While some roles may look different in the future, our priority is ensuring our talented staff remains part of the Conroe ISD family.

I know that words like "deficit" or "budget shifts" can cause concern. Please hear me clearly: our focus remains on protecting the culture we have built together. We are in a stronger financial position than most, and I am confident that by working with transparency and heart, we will navigate this season successfully.

The last thing I want is for any of you to go home feeling worried about your future. You are the heartbeat of this district. Thank you for the professionalism, dedication, and care you show our students every single day.  You matter, and I welcome your questions, ideas, and concerns.
