Thirty-one Conroe ISD students have earned one of the highest honors available to Texas music students by being named to the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State ensembles.
The TMEA All-State process is one of the most competitive student music programs in the country. Each year, more than 68,000 students begin the audition process. Musicians advance through three rigorous rounds of auditions at the region, area, and state levels. From those initial auditions, only the top 2.7 percent of students in the state are selected as All-State performers.
Students who earn this distinction are invited to perform in one of the official TMEA All-State ensembles, which include band, orchestra, choir, jazz, and mariachi groups. Selected students travel to San Antonio to participate in three days of intensive rehearsals led by nationally recognized conductors. The experience culminates in a concert performance during the annual TMEA Convention, one of the largest music education gatherings in the nation.
This year’s 31 Conroe ISD All-State musicians represent an impressive cross-section of the district’s fine arts programs, including Conroe High School Choir, College Park High School Band and Orchestra, Grand Oaks High School Band, Oak Ridge High School Band and Choir, and The Woodlands High School Band and Choir.
Earning All-State recognition requires extraordinary dedication, discipline, and commitment. These students have spent countless hours preparing for auditions while balancing academics and other responsibilities. Their achievement reflects not only their individual talent and perseverance, but also the strength of Conroe ISD’s fine arts programs and the guidance of their directors.
