Fox 26A Community That Stands Out
Dr. Vinson joins Conroe ISD after 15 years as superintendent in Wylie ISD. He said it was the people who set Conroe ISD apart. “When I got to Conroe and I talked to other people, it was just magic,” he said. “Everyone is coming together with a common vision, which is to grow great kids.”

Listening First, Building on Strengths
When asked about his first steps as superintendent, Dr. Vinson pointed to advice he learned growing up in West Texas. “Never move a fence until you know what it is for,” he said. His plan is to listen, learn, and understand before making changes. “There are so many great things going on in Conroe. My goal right now is to find the best parts and make them a little better.”

Proud of Strong Foundations
Dr. Vinson noted the district’s recent recognition as the best school district in Montgomery County for the fifth year in a row. “It is nice when you can build on foundations of greatness,” he said. “Finding out what is right and buildingFox 26 on that is incredibly important.”

Embracing Challenges
The conversation also covered challenges such as state testing and new legislation on cell phone use in schools. Dr. Vinson said he welcomes these challenges, pointing to academic success in his previous district. On cell phones, he praised students for their maturity. “The kids have done amazing,” he said. “You see them talking at lunch and growing. Relationship skills, self-awareness, and the ability to interact face-to-face are essential for success in today’s world.”

Looking Ahead
In his first days with Conroe ISD, Dr. Vinson emphasized his commitment to listening, learning, and serving the community. “I would not have come to a place that I would not be proud of, and I am proud of Conroe ISD,” he said.
