About Fowler Intermediate
History & Namesake
Janene Fowler Intermediate will open in August 2026 and will serve both the present Conroe High School and future Timber Mill High School feeder zones.
Janene Elizabeth Fowler (January 20, 1954-December 15, 2018) dedicated 31 years to teaching junior high science in Conroe ISD at Knox, Branch Crossing, and McCullough Junior High Schools. While serving on these campuses she was Chair of the Science Department and helped to lead the curriculum.
“Janene had a passion for science, her students, her students, and colleagues. She always had time for anyone who needed something, whether it was a listening ear, a fierce advocate, or advice. She mentored teachers beyond her department as a campus wide leader,” shared McCullough Junior High in a tribute post.
A graduate of Texas A&M University and student by nature, Fowler’s love for science was matched only by her compassion and dedication to her students. She leaves behind a legacy of mentorship, classroom experience, and community service.
“Janene was a fellow educator and nature lover. Her passion for our environment will endure. She will still continue to promote conservation, because she taught us and her pupils how to understand and how to love our world," reflected Paul Ulicny.
Fowler's leadership, passion, and unyielding commitment towards education encouraged numerous students to learn the science magic and adopt lifelong learning.
