At Austin Elementary, we are blessed with an incredible team of teachers who pour their hearts into everything they do. As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week from May 5–9, we want to take a moment to share just how special they are — and invite you to help us show them how much they mean to all of us!
Our teachers are more than just instructors — they are encouragers, mentors, and champions for every child. They spend countless hours outside the school day preparing engaging lessons, planning meaningful activities, and thinking about how they can best support every student's needs. Many even spend their own money to create the most welcoming, enriching environment possible. Whether it's staying late to tutor a struggling student, purchasing special supplies for a fun project, or simply offering a listening ear when a student needs one, our teachers go above and beyond every single day.
In general, teachers are among the greatest unsung heroes in our communities. They inspire creativity, build confidence, and lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. They show patience, flexibility, and compassion while nurturing the individual strengths of every student who walks through their door. At Austin Elementary, we see this spirit alive and well in every classroom, every hallway, every day.
This week, we are asking for your help in celebrating the amazing educators who make Austin Elementary such a wonderful place to learn and grow! We have some simple, fun ways for you and your child to show your appreciation:
Write a heartfelt thank you note to your child's teacher — a few kind words can mean the world!
Bring a flower (real or handmade) to brighten their day.
Send a cookie or a snack as a sweet treat to keep them energized.
Encourage your child to share a favorite memory or lesson from this school year.
Small gestures can make a big impact — and they let our teachers know that their hard work and dedication are truly seen and valued.
Thank you for partnering with us to celebrate the incredible teachers of Austin Elementary. Together, we can make this a week to remember for the people who make such a lasting difference in our children’s lives!
With gratitude,
Katie Meaux
