David Vinson at the Education Foundation Breakfast

Cheerleaders from Grand Oaks High SchoolThe Conroe ISD Education Foundation Breakfast was more than an event, it was a powerful reminder of what happens when a community rallies around its students. With more than 400 attendees filling the room, this year’s breakfast brought together elected officials, local businesses, educational partners, the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees, district leadership, and campus principals, all united by a shared purpose.

And that purpose showed up in a big way.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, the Foundation raised over $270,000 to support staff and students across Conroe ISD.

This success was made possible through the leadership and commitment of our sponsors:

Students from The Woodlands Student CouncilA Showcase of Student Excellence

One of the most meaningful aspects of the morning was the opportunity to see Conroe ISD students in action. From the moment guests arrived, they were welcomed and served by students representing the very best of our district:

  • Grand Oaks HS Cheerleaders greeted attendees at the door

  • The College Park HS Quartet played for guests as they mingled

  • The Woodlands HS Student Council assisted guests to their seats

  • Conroe HS Culinary Arts students prepared pastries

  • Oak Ridge HS Floral Design students created the table arrangements

The program itself highlighted student talent and leadership at every turn:

  • Holly Garrett (Grand Oaks HS) delivered the invocation

  • Navy JROTC from Caney Creek HS presented the colors

  • Talon Swannie and Hunter Hendryx (Washington HS) led the pledges

  • The Oak Ridge HS Choir, led by Thomas Kang, performed the national anthem

These moments were not just performances, they were living examples of the impact of strong programs, dedicated educators, and supportive communities.

Leadership and Vision

The event was hosted by Conroe ISD’s Director of Communications and Education Foundation leader, Lindsay Ardoin, whose energy and leadership helped bring the morning together seamlessly.

Keynote speaker Dr. David Vinson delivered a message centered on the future of Conroe ISD and the implementation of the Texas Standard. He outlined the core characteristics the district aims to instill in every graduate:

  • Caring & Giving

  • Grit & Preparation

  • Respect & Responsibility

  • Gratitude & Celebration

These are not just ideals, they are already being lived out across the district.

Dr. Vinson highlighted programs like Boyz II Men, led by Carlton Todd at Stockton Junior High and Joe Roland at Bozman Intermediate, which is shaping young men through mentorship and accountability.

He also recognized Landri Von Gotten of College Park High School, whose commitment and grit have propelled her to success as a USA wrestler, representing both her school and her community at a high level.

He pointed to the Conroe High School Culinary Arts students, who have demonstrated preparation and excellence by advancing to national competition through SkillsUSA.

And he emphasized the importance of caring and giving through the upcoming Back to School Bash at Conroe High School on July 25. Last year, the community helped provide over 800 backpacks and 1,200 meals. This year, the goal is even greater.

From workforce readiness to industry certifications, students are being equipped with real-world skills that prepare them for success beyond graduation.

A special moment came as Dr. Vinson recognized the Education Foundation Board for over 20 years of service to the district. Each member in attendance was presented with a custom plaque created by CTE students, an appropriate tribute that reflects the mission of the Foundation itself.

The current board includes:

  • President: Nelda Luce Blair

  • Secretary/Treasurer: Amanda Devlin Trapp

  • John Husbands

  • James Holcomb

  • Deborah Kaschik

  • Dr. Ann Snyder

  • Dr. Don Stockon

  • Bruce Tough

  • Executive Director: Maris Blair

Their leadership has helped build a foundation that continues to impact Conroe ISD staff and generations of students.

Moving Forward Together

The success of this year’s Education Foundation Breakfast is not just measured in dollars raised, though $270,000 is certainly worth celebrating. It is measured in the relationships strengthened, the stories shared, and the collective commitment to ensuring every student in Conroe ISD has the opportunity to succeed.

This is what happens when a community believes in its schools.

And this is only the beginning.
