Powell El

Leaving an inspiring writing lesson in Stacey Dunn’s classroom, I was stopped in the hallway by a student who proudly said, “Mrs. Dunn is a great teacher!”

Day 25 in Conroe ISD, and it’s moments like this from Colin Powell Elementary that fill my heart and remind me how truly special this family is.

CPHS vs TWHSAfter the Woodlands vs. College Park football game, I couldn’t help but text both coaches to share how proud I was of their players. The grit, resilience, teamwork, and tenacity on display during that double-overtime battle were simply remarkable.

And it’s not just on the field. Every high school marching band earned a First Division at UIL and is advancing to Area this week. Parents definitely know, Woodforest Bank Stadium was packed with them cheering, lugging equipment, and even directing traffic. Thank you, band parents, for your spirit and support.

CHS WeldI’ve met Conroe High welders who beam with the same pride as any artist or musician. That same passion shines in College Park’s National Champion Robotics Team, Caney Creek’s State Champion Cheerleaders, and the UIL State Champion Volleyball Team at Grand Oaks.

This week, I hope to wrap up my first round of visits to every campus. Everywhere I go, I see students who love their teachers and coaches with the same heartfelt enthusiasm as that little boy who adores Mrs. Dunn. In all sincerity, I haven’t had a single bad day here. Each one ends with inspiration and excitement for the next.

Do we have challenges? Absolutely. Spend time with a high school student without their phone, or a hungry third grader waiting for a snack, and you’ll see them firsthand. But what defines Conroe ISD isn’t the challenges, it’s the spirit, warmth, dedication, and love that fill our classrooms and hallways.

These are the forces that give our kids knowledge, hope, love, and purpose, and make this place so special.

Hope is believing that tomorrow can be better than today and knowing we can make it happen. My heart is filled with that hope after every campus visit, and I can’t wait to start Day 26.

Thank you for loving our students, supporting one another, and pouring your hearts into this district. It matters, and so do you.

David
