The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees gave special recognition to the 2016 Division I Boys’ 148-lb Weight Class Powerlifting State Champion at their meeting on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.

The Woodlands High School powerlifter Gavin Webster was named Division I Boys’ 148-lb Weight Class Powerlifting State Champion on Saturday, April 2, at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene, TX. Webster’s combined lifts totaled 1,380 pounds, topping 21 other lifters and setting a school record.  His totals in the three events were a 510 pound squat, a 330 pound bench-press, and a 540 pound dead lift.

Mr. Gregg Colschen, The Woodlands High School principal, introduced Craig Smith, The Woodlands High School powerlifting coach, to the Board.  In his remarks, Coach Smith stated, “In addition to winning the State Championship, one of the most impressive things that I can say about what he did this year is that for his season, he was a perfect 45 for 45 on all of his lifts. Thank you for helping me recognize your 148-lb State Champion, Gavin Webster.”
