Lindsay Dawson was elected to the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees in November 2024. She has had many unique experiences in her life as a proud wife and mother of two. She was raised in Amarillo, Texas, by her father and mother, whose cancer diagnosis when Dawson was 13 and subsequent passing gave her purpose and drive. She went on to be the first member of her family to graduate college, earning a bachelor’s in International Business and Finance, with a minor in Arabic.
Dawson has a variety of professional experiences across the private, public, and non-profit sectors. She began her career as an internal auditor in the energy sector and was quickly recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), where she served as a Middle East Economic Analyst. She served senior U.S. policymakers, including the President of the United States, while pursuing her Master’s in International Development from George Washington University. While in Washington, D.C., she met her husband, Michael.
It was during her time in D.C. that she discovered her passion for fighting on behalf of vulnerable populations. Her passion guided her to represent our nation abroad for two years as a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State in Abu Dhabi, UAE. As a diplomat, she led an interagency humanitarian working group to help alleviate Yemen’s humanitarian crisis during their civil war. After the birth of their daughter in the UAE, the Dawsons decided to raise a family in a community that shared their values. In 2018, they put down roots in The Woodlands and later had their son.
Despite the change in scenery, Dawson’s passion for serving others and fighting for those that cannot fight for themselves continued. She served as the Economic Empowerment Director for a local non-profit to help rehabilitate sex trafficking survivors, during which time she realized how vulnerable our children are to exploitation. This prompted her to serve on the Protecting Texas Children Subcommittee in the 88th Texas Legislative Session.
Dawson is an avid entrepreneur having recently started her second business, uThrive Academy, a one-stop economic empowerment shop for at-risk youth to get essential career and financial planning services. She also runs an award-winning photography business.
