Mr. Ray Sanders

TERM: November 2018 – November 2022

Ray Sanders was elected to the Board in November, 2010, and currently serves as Board Secretary. Mr. Sanders has also served as Chair of CISD’s Audit and Investment Committees for almost 12 years. He has been a banker since 1984, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and a National Certified Counselor. He teaches part-time as an instructor for Sam Houston State University in the EMBA program and taught at the undergraduate level for nine years. He has given many workshops on topics such as personal finance, budgeting, conflict resolution, anger management, and leadership He has spoken publicly on issues of financial literacy, career development, and counselor education.

Ray earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. He completed post-graduate hours in Economics, Management, Real Estate, and Accounting at Sam Houston State University and The University of Houston-Clear Lake. He is the Chairman of the Board for the Interfaith Community Clinic and a past Chairman of Interfaith of The Woodlands, the South Montgomery County-Woodlands Chamber of Commerce Board and the Economic Development Partnership Board, and currently serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Interfaith of The Woodlands.

Mr. Sanders has been married for over 40 years and has two daughters. His oldest graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Management and works in The Woodlands, and his youngest graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Education and is a school teacher. He is also a member of Celebration Church in The Woodlands. Ray believes strongly in the Sam Houston State University motto, “The measure of a Life is Its Service,” as he has dedicated his life to serving others in his community.

Mr. Sanders was raised by a family of school teachers who taught him the value of a public school education.
