Inclement Weather

Texas weather can be unpredictable and may occasionally impact Conroe ISD operations. When severe weather is possible, the Superintendent closely monitors conditions and typically makes a decision regarding school operations by 5:30 a.m in coordination with the Montgomery County of Office of Emergency Management. This decision is based on road conditions and power availability across our 348 square mile district.

School closures may or may not be announced the evening before a school day. Once the school day has begun, early release is uncommon due to the challenges of notifying families and the impact on working parents. Decisions regarding after-school and evening activities are made by the Superintendent’s Office.

During inclement weather, families and staff are encouraged to monitor the Conroe ISD website and official district social media channels for the most current information. (Facebook, Instagram, X) Once a decision is made, these platforms are updated first. District leadership, including transportation, maintenance, campus administrators, and supervisors, are then notified. Conroe ISD will also communicate with families and staff through emails and text messages. Schools will remain open unless an official closure or delay is announced.

School closures due to inclement weather occur only when absolutely necessary. The Texas Education Agency requires that missed instructional days be made up, so the district makes every effort to follow the approved school calendar whenever possible.
