The Texas Standard

We are currently engaging our students, parents, staff, and community in an important conversation about the character traits we believe every Conroe ISD student should carry with them when they walk across the graduation stage. These traits represent the heart of who we are and who we want our students to become.

As we identify these shared values, we will begin to focus on them throughout your student's journey in Conroe ISD. Our commitment is to work side by side with you to help every student grow into a young person of strong character, one who leads with integrity and one our community is proud to call a Conroe ISD graduate.

This work will take shape in a new initiative called The Texas Standard. It is our hope that this becomes more than a district effort. We believe it can grow into a movement that inspires students, families, and schools across the state of Texas.

As we define The Texas Standard as a community, I am reminded of the moments that have shown me what strong character looks like in real life, both in what I have seen across our state and in the ways our own district continues to care for others today.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Harvey DonationsWhen devastating floods struck Houston, I watched with pride from my home in Wylie, TX as nightly news stories captured what Texans do best: we show up for one another. What began as a crisis quickly revealed the heart and resilience of an entire community. YOU were the standard for caring and giving.

In the days after the flooding, volunteers poured in from every corner of the state. Teachers, students, families, and faith-based groups came ready to serve. Many came from nearby districts like Conroe ISD and beyond, determined to lend a hand wherever they could.

Texans brought supplies, delivered meals, and offered something even more powerful, hope. Volunteers used their own boats to rescue families from rising waters, organized donation drives for clothing and food, and transformed school gyms and churches into temporary shelters.

Donations poured in from across the country, but it was the hands-on presence of local volunteers that made recovery possible. Texans did not wait for instructions; they rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

You showed us that caring and giving are not seasonal. They are a way of life. In short, you showed the entire country a true standard of character, The Texas Standard.

As a new citizen of the Houston area, I was eager to see if I would experience the same kind of caring and giving I had observed during the floods, the kind that truly defines Texans in times of need. I did not have to wait long to find out.

Backpack GiveawaysThe Spirit of Caring & Giving in Our Schools

Here in Conroe ISD, we see that same spirit of generosity come alive every fall during our Caring and Giving season. From the youngest elementary student dropping a can into a collection box to high school students volunteering to organize deliveries, every act, large or small, builds something powerful.

We see empathy take shape through action, kindness transform into leadership, and generosity ripple through our schools and beyond.

This initiative is not just about collecting items or achieving a specific goal. It is about teaching our students that every person matters, that giving is a choice we make every day, and that our community becomes stronger when we support one another.

Food BankJust last Saturday, Conroe ISD had the opportunity to partner with the Montgomery County Food Bank to help feed more than 700 families. This incredible organization provided more than nine million meals to families in need in 2024 alone.

Conroe ISD has also launched The Care Campaign to support those in need across Montgomery County. One of the most powerful ways to model caring for your students and children is through your actions. You can currently donate to support the Montgomery County Food Bank by visiting our website

I have never experienced a more genuine or more effective organization, driven by a singular focus, helping others. Their compassion, efficiency, and humility are what make them a shining example of the Texas spirit.

Character begins here, at Conroe ISD.

We are The Texas Standard.
