Eighty young women, all juniors and seniors from Conroe ISD’s six high schools, participated in a day-long Energize STEM Symposium at Caney Creek High School on Friday, September 15.

The ExxonMobil Women’s Interest Network and Society of Women Engineers-Houston hosted the event for the students who were selected based on their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and their participation in Engineering & Design, Architecture Design, AP Physics, and or AP Computer Science/Robotics activities.

During the day, the students listened to two dynamic speakers and participated in a variety of hands-on activities including using a 3-D printer, building lamp, and working with virtual reality goggles. The students also had the opportunity to meet in small groups with female engineers to learn more about their background and careers.

The ExxonMobil Women’s Interest Network and Society of Women Engineers-Houston are both dedicated to advancing women in STEM careers through mentoring, scholarships, and education outreach programs. For more information, please visit http://corporate.exxonmobil.com/ and http://swehouston.org.
