Conroe ISD Students Awarded Scholarships through Junior Achievement
By Abbie Johnson, Student Intern
Twelve Conroe ISD students were awarded scholarships through the Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas Scholarship Program (JA) for the 2015-16 school year. Each scholarship was sponsored by an individual, organization, or business.
JA is a non-profit organization that provides many different programs to students between kindergarten and 12th grade in order to help prepare them to succeed in the current global economy. Programs, such as Career Success, Economics, Job Shadow, and Personal Finance, each provide a different perspective on how students should prepare themselves for their future. JA educational programs are made possible by the volunteer work of professionals, parents, retirees, and college students who wish to share and educate students about today’s workplace.
In order to be considered for a scholarship, students must have participated in JA between their 9th and 12th grade years. Applicants also provided their education plans, level of JA participation, and other relevant information such as awards and achievements obtained in high school and through other extracurricular activities, educational financial plans, transcripts, college entrance scores, and a letter of recommendation.
