Conroe ISD receives Five Star Rating from TXSmartSchools

Conroe ISD received the highest rating of five stars from the TXSmartSchools program which is based on the foundational work of the Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST), the former rating system of the Texas State Comptroller. TXSmartSchools uses academic, financial, and demographic data to identify school districts that produce high academic achievement while also maintaining cost-effective operations. Five stars reflects the strongest academic progress combined with the lowest spending of a district when compared with its peers.

“We are proud to be recognized for efficiency in spending and high academic achievement for the sixth consecutive year,” stated Superintendent Dr. Don Stockton. “This is truly the result of the hard work of everyone in Conroe ISD.”

Conroe ISD is one of only 26 public school districts out of the approximately 1,100 across the state to receive the five-star rating. Furthermore, Conroe ISD is one of only three public school districts to earn the highest possible rating in all six years of the FAST and TXSmartSchools programs.

“Public education is one of the largest items in the state budget, so Texans need to know where their dollars are getting the highest return in terms of student performance,” said Susan Combs, former Texas Comptroller and longtime transparency advocate. “With this platform, parents can find out which schools are beating expectations and educators can find peers whose success makes them worth emulating. It’s truly an initiative that lends itself to the common good.”
