Conroe ISD Police Department Awarded Recognized Status
The Conroe ISD Board of Trustees recognized the Conroe ISD Police Department at their August Meeting for receiving the Recognized Law Enforcement Agency award from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Recognition Program.
The Recognition Program evaluates a police department’s compliance with over 168 Best Business Practices for Texas Law Enforcement that were developed by Texas Law Enforcement professionals to assist agencies in the efficient and effective delivery of service and the protection of individuals’ rights. The Best Practices cover all aspects of law enforcement operations including use of force, protection of citizen rights, vehicle pursuits, property and evidence management, and patrol and investigative operations.
The Conroe ISD Police Department voluntarily conducted a critical self-review of its policies, procedures, facilities and operations beginning in January of 2013. The process included preparing proofs of compliance for each of the Texas Law Enforcement Best Business Practices as well as submitting to an outside audit review. In July of 2014, the Conroe I.S.D. Police Department achieved its Recognized status as only the 102nd agency to earn this distinction in Texas.
In addition to ongoing proof of compliance with program standards, every four years recognized law enforcement agencies undergo an external audit to ensure compliance with all Best Practices put forth by the Texas Law Enforcement Recognition Program to receive a renewed recognized status. In July of 2018, the Conroe ISD Police Department completed this process and was again awarded the status of Recognized Law Enforcement Agency. There are over 2,000 law enforcement agencies in the State of Texas with 145 having Recognized status and only 8 of those being school district police departments.
With this renewed Recognition, the Conroe ISD Police Department is considered one of the best in the State and has shown its dedication to maintaining the highest law enforcement standards for the community that it serves.
Congratulating the CISD Police Department, Trustee Scott Kidd said, “I know the security and safety of our kids and our entire staff is on the top of our priority list. The thankfulness, gratefulness, […we are] just proud that we have one of the best groups in the state. We’re just extremely grateful to acknowledge the hard work, acknowledge what you do for this community, for our kids and for our entire staff.”
At that same meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the addition of 15 officer positions and one leadership position. For more information about the Conroe ISD Police Department or the available employment opportunities, visit the Conroe ISD Police Department’s website.
