Caney Creek Summer Meal Distribution Site

Conroe ISD has been notified that a Child Nutrition employee who works at the summer Caney Creek High School meal distribution site has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee last worked at the site this week and is not believed to have been symptomatic while on campus.

Meal distribution facilities are cleaned daily and will be receiving additional cleanings. All staff members are screened daily by nurses prior to their shifts, a practice that started in March. Staff members also wear appropriate personal protective gear (PPE) including masks and gloves. Assembled meals are comprised of prepackaged food.

Child Nutrition staff will continue to follow CDC guidelines and recommendations and practice social distancing. The District’s Health Services Department has notified other employees on site that day as well as local health officials.

Out of an abundance of caution, we advise families that picked up meals on Tuesday to monitor their health and/or the health of their student, follow the CDC guidelines for community-related exposure, and contact their healthcare provider with any questions or if symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, or chills develop.

Conroe ISD is continuing to monitor this situation and will provide additional information as needed. The District has distributed well over 800,000 meals since schools were closed in mid-March and looks forward to continuing to serve the community with this program.
