Caney Creek Navy JROTC Recognized for State Championship

The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees gave special recognition to the 2018 Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Unarmed Regulation Drill Team State Champions from Caney Creek High School at their April meeting.

On February 24, 2018, Caney Creek High School’s Navy JROTC participated in the Navy JROTC State Championship in College Station, Texas. At that event, the unit’s Unarmed Regulation Drill Team claimed the State Championship with their 7-minute performance. The team is led by Amanda Blanchard, a junior and 3-year member of the program. The team members are as follows: Ashley Villanueva, Dalyla Rodriguez, Cristal Reyes, Caitlyn Rutland, Leisha Hernandez, Natalie Arvaranga, Anihi Bautista, Selena Ortiz, Annie Deleon, and Rose Fowler. The Guide for the team is Elijah Berger.

Caney Creek High School Principal Dr. Jeff Stichler introduced Lt. Cmdr. Louis Cortez, Navy JROTC Senior Instructor, who presented the students to the Board.

Upon presenting the team with a plaque, Trustee John Husbands stated, “On behalf of the Board, we are so very proud of you. We’re always so proud to see you practicing hard and working hard, and I know it goes through all aspects of your life. So I congratulate you.”
