Birnham Woods will host a book fair February 24 through March 3. Students may shop during the day. On Tuesday, February 28, parents and students may shop from 3 – 6 p.m.

Broadway Elementary
On March 3, we are hosting a Paint with Dads event in the cafeteria in which the boys and dads will be painting a cereal bowl.

Buckalew Elementary
On March 2, all kindergarten classes will celebrate Dr. Seuss Day with stories, costumes and hearing about the author and his famous characters. This is a great learning day packed with fun for the children.

 

March 3 is Go Texans Day; Everyone in first grade will wear rodeo gear. We have a fun project planned to make stick horses to ride.

 

Winners of the Keys for Success “Principal’s Medallion” for the week of February 13 are Avaly Williams for being proactive; Brock Ha for thinking win-win; Adam Miller for being helpful and starting work in the morning; Isabel Carmichael for being proactive; and Ainsley Truetle for thinking win-win. Congratulations to everyone.

 

Bush Elementary
Congratulations to Teacher of the Year Jennifer Bruno. Mrs. Bruno teaches first grade. We also wish to congratulate our Humanitarian of the Year Brenda Hooker. Mrs. Hooker is a paraprofessional in Special Education. Both Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Hooker were voted by their peers to receive these honors.

 

In the Month of March, Bobcats will learn about a different character trait, Courage.

 

Collins Intermediate
Congratulations to our February Colossal Cobra Award Winners! Celebrations will take place in the library on Monday, February 27 for sixth grade award winners and Tuesday, February 28 for fifth grade award winners. This month’s character trait is kindness!

 

There will be a Cobra Council meeting in the library on Thursday, March 2 at 8 a.m. This is a mandatory meeting for all Cobra Council members.

 

March Madness will be on Friday, March 3 from 4 – 7 p.m. Remember to go online to the Collins Web Store and purchase your tickets.

 

Creighton Elementary
Each year we have an opportunity to honor a teacher, a humanitarian, and a friend of education, and celebrate them at our District’s Teacher of the Year banquet in May. We are excited to announce that our honorees for this year are: Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Nancy Campero, third grade teacher and Humanitarian of the Year, Mrs. Lauren Hoffart, second grade teacher. Our Friends of Education are Mrs. Allie Morgan, Parent Volunteer Coordinator, and Farmers Insurance. Please join us in congratulating these folks. They represent us well with their dedication, integrity and love of children!

 

Galatas Elementary
The second grade class will present their Spring Program, “The Box”, on Thursday, March 2. Their performance for family and friends will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Spring pictures for students will be Thursday, March 2. Information regarding purchasing pictures will be going home in Tuesday folders.

 

Our annual Giesinger 5K Fun Run is March 4 at 8 a.m. The route starts at the back of our school and winds up and down the hilly streets of Greystone Hills. We hope your family is able to participate with us. Race entries will be accepted through the morning of the race, however, a shirt cannot be guaranteed after the registration deadline.

 
Hailey Elementary
Attendance counts for every child every day. Congratulations to Mrs. Haas, Ms. Clary, and Ms. Lopez’s classes for achieving 10 attendance rockets for the whole class being on time and staying at school all day!

 

The Parent Teacher Association will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, March 2 at 6 p.m. in the school library.

 

Friday, March 3 is Spring Picture Day. Additionally, this is the last day to pre-order the school yearbook.

 

Students can bring aluminum cans, foil, pans, and aluminum computer parts for recycling every Friday morning for our Cash for Cans program, which helps support our school. Please deliver recyclables to the front porch when arriving at school.

 

Houser Elementary

Kaufman Elementary
On Monday, February 27, first graders will attend a dental presentation to learn the importance of taking care of their teeth.

 

On Friday, March 3, students’ Spring pictures will be taken.

 

Mitchell Intermediate
Congratulations to our Teachers of the Year, Jackie Rigby and Dawn Caldwell. We would also like to congratulate our Humanitarian of the Year, Jessica Tanguma.

 

The Mitchell Library will host the Spring Scholastic Book Fair beginning on Tuesday, February 21 and running until Friday, March 3. Students may visit the library between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Students must be accompanied by an adult before and after school hours.

 

The sixth grade Reading Benchmark will be administered on Tuesday, February 28.

 

Mitchell Intermediate will host a blood drive for Lily Skeen, daughter of Mitchell faculty member, Dr. Christel Skeen on Thursday, March 1 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. To sign up to give, please check the February 21 issue of the Mitchell Messenger or email Lisa Neumann at lneumann@conroeisd.net.

 

There will be a special presentation for fifth grade on Thursday, March 2. The Mitchell PTO has invited Wolf Stuntworks to perform their “Science in The Movies” presentation at our school. They will demonstrate exciting ways that science is used to create movie stunts and special effects. Students will learn several essential concepts of science and safety. Thank you PTO!

 

The sixth grade Spring Social will be held on Friday, March 3 from 4-6 p.m. Buy your child’s admission, game, and food tickets online beginning Monday, February 13 in the Spirit Store at www.mitchellmustangspto.org. Parents who want to chaperone, please make sure you visit https://apps.conroeisd.net/volunteer/. Without filling out this CISD Volunteer form at least four days prior to the social, you will not be able to volunteer for this fun event. Registration has now begun for the 10th Annual Mitchell Paint the Path Pink. The Paint the Path Pink Walk and 5K Fun Run will be held on Saturday, April 1 beginning at 9 a.m. For registration forms, please look for the pink flier in the Mitchell Messenger or they can be picked up in the front office.

 

The third annual “Mitchell Faculty Follies” is scheduled for Thursday, April 13 at 6 p.m. Several staff members and Mitchell students will entertain you for a good cause. Proceeds will benefit the HOPE foundation established to help find a cure for Batten’s Disease which our own Will Herndon has been battling for several years. Please help support this cause and mark the date on your calendar.

 

Powell Elementary
Fourth grade students take a science District curriculum checkpoint on Tuesday, February 28. They will take a middle of the year reading benchmark Thursday, March 2.

 

Third grade students will take a middle of the year reading benchmark on Wednesday, March 1.

 

Friday, March 3 is Go Texan Day. Kindergarten students will be celebrating Rodeo Day.

 

The Parent Teacher Organization will have a Sprit Store on Friday, March 3 at 7:30 a.m.

 

Reaves Elementary
Please join us for the CHS feeder choir concert on February 16 at 7 p.m. at Conroe High.
All Reaves students and staff will celebrate Go Texan Day by wearing our favorite western wear on February 24.

 

Rice Elementary
On Tuesday, February 28, Rice will host a Pre-K Parent Night at 5:30 p.m.

 

Kona Ice will be at Rice on Wednesday, March 1.

 

Second graders will present their program on Friday, March 10 at 9 a.m.

 

Snyder Elementary
Thank you to all that came to our Academic Night. It was a great success and so much fun!

 

We are very excited to welcome back author Hillary Ralles to Snyder on Friday, February 24; Thursday, March 2; and Friday March 3. She will be working with fourth graders during her visits.

 
Tough Elementary
Coulson Tough is very proud of the students who auditioned for the CISD Honor Choir. Congratulations to following students for being a part of this year’s CISD Honor Choir. They all worked hard at the competition, and their teacher, Mrs. Cawley, was very pleased with all of their efforts. CISD Honor Choir members are as follows: Jimena Aragon, Colleen Brown, Abbey Busic, Maddie Busic, Debbie Chu, Dominic Dy, Abigail Each, Kate Edwards, Paula Esparza, Ximena Esparza, Annabel Fish, Alex Fox, Bella Haden, Selah Martinez, Sebastian Orozco, Lauren Stepanik, Sachiko Suryaputri, Morganne Tison, Mariana Velasco, Max Welkie and Anna Zajac.

PTO president Heather Pine, art teacher Holli Hawkins and Principal Shawn Creswell attended the Sterling Ridge Village Association meeting on Thursday. February 2. Mrs. Hawkins presented the board members with information about an art mural that she is creating along with the direction of local artist Vicki McMillian. All students in the school will be involved in the painting of the mural to be hung in the entry hall at Coulson Tough. Coulson Tough was awarded $2,000 from the Sterling Ridge Village Association to put toward funding for this mural. The CT staff is very thankful to the association for recognizing the schools efforts in creating a collaborative art piece for the campus.
