Transportation Employees Recognized by CISD Board of Trustees

The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees gave special recognition to outstanding employees in the Transportation Department at their meeting on Tuesday.

Conroe ISD awards Ambassador Awards to recognize individuals for their positive contributions to campus life and campus climate. The Board of Trustees was proud to honor the following employees from the Transportation Department for their extraordinary contribution to the District.

From the East County Transportation Center, Linda Massey, driver, and Eva Thatcher, monitor, were recognized for their teamwork and composure. As a result of their quick thinking and by following the emergency protocols, they were able to stabilize a student suffering a seizure until EMS arrived while keeping the other students on the bus calm during this crisis.

Nora Morales, an Operations Specialist at the Oak Ridge Transportation Center, was recognized for her diligence and quick thinking when she decided to make another pass through the parking lot before leaving for the day. In doing so, she spotted a suspicious young person and alerted authorities, which led to solving a rash of recent acts of vandalism. Additionally, Mrs. Morales recently represented Conroe ISD in the Regional School Bus Road-e-o at the Spring ISD Transportation Facility where she took 2nd place in the conventional bus group, and will be representing the District at the State competition in June.

From the CISD Transportation Training Department, Dean Glassock, a driver trainer, was recognized for his display professionalism and calmness under pressure during a situation regarding a disruptive student on a bus he was driving. Mr. Glassock was quick to address the safety issue of the student moving around on the moving bus by stopping it immediately. He then addressed the rules and remained very professional until additional personnel arrived.

Dawn Poole, a supervisor at The Woodlands Transportation Center, was recognized for her quick actions to keep students and staff safe in a manner above and beyond the call of duty. While she was filling in for a driver at The Woodlands College Park High School, the campus was place on lockdown. Ms. Poole noticed a suspicious individual walking past her heading toward the school. Along with campus staff, Ms. Poole helped detain the individual until CISD Police arrived to the location.

Trustee Ray Sanders presented each with their award. After presenting the awards and commenting on the importance of their contributions to the District, he ended with, “Thank you on behalf of the Board and the entire District. We appreciate all that you do.”
