Philosophy

Believing that the central purpose of the school nurse in the educational setting is assisting each student to achieve the highest level of their ability. Health Services recognizes that physical and mental wellness is vital to the success of each student. By utilizing the facilities of the schools and community, the school health program can assist each student in attaining an optimal level of physical and emotional health. Although the parents and guardians are ultimately responsible for the health care of their children, Health Services welcomes the opportunity to assist and support the families of Conroe I.S.D., both professionally and educationally, in order to reach the mutual goal of a successful school experience.

Head Lice Information

Head lice continues to be an ongoing nuisance.  Conroe ISD follows recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as well as those contained in the position papers of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the National Association of School Nurses in the treatment for head lice. Health Services also considers community standards and impact in developing this protocol.

The goal of the school district is to support families in their efforts to control and eliminate head lice while maintaining student privacy.  Please contact your campus school nurse or our CISD Health Services department with any questions or concerns.
