Conroe ISD Earns 17th Consecutive Meritorious Budget Award

Conroe ISD has received the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International’s Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation during the 2016–2017 budget year.

The MBA program promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and enhances school business officials’ skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting a school system budget. After a rigorous review by professional auditors, the award is conferred only on school districts that have met or exceeded the program’s stringent criteria. This is the 17th year the District has received such a distinction from ASBO.

ASBO Director of Certification and Recognition Programs Vee Boehringer commented on CISD’s long-standing participation in the MBA program and stated, “[this] is a true reflection of the district’s commitment to fiscal integrity.”

In addition to receiving the MBA, the District has received the highest recognition for transparency from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts seven years in a row, a five-star rating from TXSmartSchools (formerly known as the Financial Allocation Study for Texas) for having high academic standards with spending efficiency six years in a row, and a 1-1 rating from Education Resource Group for Academic and Financial Performance nine years in a row.

Superintendent Dr. Don Stockton remarked, “Conroe ISD appreciates the recognition for excellence in budget preparation from the Association of School Business Officials. We believe that transparency in all things is essential in being good stewards of public funds and building strong relationships with our patrons.”
