During the June Board meeting, the Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees gave special recognition to Katie Jensen, a junior from The Woodlands College Park High School, who won the 2012 State 5A 3200 Meter Run at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 12, 2012. Jensen was awarded a plaque to commemorate and applaud her exceptional achievement.
Katie placed first in the 3200 meter run and third in the 1600 meter run. Jensen not only took home the 2012 state 3200 meter run champion title, but she also broke the state record which was set in 2006 with a time of 10:24.80.
Her proud coach, Mitchell Reed, commented, "She does all this while maintaining an 'A' average in all of her AP classes. And the best part is she will be back next year."
