Quick Draw Contest Winners

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLS&R) recently hosted the "Quick Draw" contest at Reliant Center. More than 700 students from the greater Houston area sent in applications to participate. After review, the School Arts Committee at Reliant Center invited 26 student s to participate on Saturday, February 19. McCullough Junior High received 15 of the invitations.

Each contestant was given 50 minutes to sketch on an 11" x 14" sheet of paper. Students were to draw a still life using a pencil. McCullough Junior High students took first and third place. Madison Chamberlain, an eighth grade student, won first place and a prize of $500. The third place winner, Abbey Johnson, also an eighth grader, won $200.
