Conroe ISD is hosting several "Youth Activity Fairs," offering one-stop shopping for families and community members to learn about and/or sign up for activities like sports teams, recreational activities, service clubs and activities related to the fine arts of dancing, music, and drama. Fairs are planned October 4 at Cox Intermediate, October 6 at Cryar Intermediate, October 10 at Wilkerson Intermediate, October 11 at Mitchell Intermediate, and October 13 at Grangerland Intermediate. It is "Generation Texas!" week October 3-7. This is a statewide initiative to organize and mobilize entire communities to help Texas students and their families pursue the path to college and career education beyond high school.
Austin Elementary School
Kindergarten students are busy learning properties of matter and studying shapes, colors, textures, size, and mass. Students are "Reading for a Better Life" through the Accelerated Reader program. Students are reading books and taking comprehension quizzes to earn points towards their nine week goal.
Birnham Woods Elementary School
Bulldogs will have a pep rally on October 5 to kick off the Boosterthon Fun Run Fall Fundraiser.
Thursday, October 6 is Read for the Record Day. Llama Llama Red Pajama will be read during announcements.
Broadway Elementary School
Students and staff will celebrate "Generation Texas" week by wearing favorite college shirts and sharing about the importance of continuing their education.
Janitor Appreciation is this week and the students and staff will recognize the custodial staff, especially Mr. Jose.
Wednesday, October 5, is "Walk to School" day. Physical Education teachers, Mrs. Deanna Mays and Mr. Jonah Lambright, will meet students at the entrance to "Spring Trails" subdivision to walk to school.
Buckalew Elementary School
The school will be collecting lightly or new used coats, jackets or sweaters during the CISD Coat Drive on October 3-21.
October 7 is scheduled for Walk to School Day and the Fall into Fitness Program. Students and parents are encouraged to walk, bike, roller-blade, or ride a scooter to school that day. During the school day students will explore the world of fitness and healthy eating.
Bush Elementary School
October 7 is scheduled for students to participate in a School Walk for Diabetes benefitting the American Diabetes Association. The "Collins Stampede" is rolling into town on Oct.22 from 3-6 p.m. This fundraising event will feature laser tag, a gaming van, inflatable games, a disc jockey, and much more.
Creighton Elementary School
Back to Your Future Day was celebrated on October 4. Student wore their favorite college t-shirt to support higher education.
October 11 is College Informational Night at Lone Star Convention Center beginning at 6 p.m.

David Elementary School
This week, students and staff are participating in "Generation Texas Week." Each day students are learning about furthering their education, such as career opportunities and ways to pay for college.
Ford Elementary School
The preview for the Scholastic Book Fair will be October 5-7. Books will be available for purchase October 10-14. Family night for the book fair is Tuesday, October 11 until 6 p.m.
The PTO meeting is Friday, October 7 at 9:30 a.m.
Galatas Elementary School
Reading week and the Book Fair are scheduled October 10-14. The theme this year is "To the Book Fair and beyond! Reading is out of this world!" There will be reading challenges, prizes and theme days throughout the week to celebrate and encourage reading.
Glen Loch Elementary School
Gators will be walking, biking, and skateboarding to school on October 6 in support of I Walk to school day.

The Hailey Dads' Club is hosting Donuts with Dad this week! Students in grades Pre K, K, 1, and 2 will have donuts with dad on Thursday, October 6 and students in grades 3 and 4 will have donuts with dad on Friday, October 7.
Houser Elementary School
Houser Elementary will be celebrating Generation Texas! Week October 3-7, 2011. Each day the students will be introduced to the importance of going to college and furthering their education after high school. The students will learn about different careers that they may be interested in pursuing after college and what it will take to become successful adults.
Houston Elementary School
Second grade students spotlighted well-known Hispanic role models during Hispanic Heritage month. Staff member, Lupe Lacayo, choreographed a dance performed by kindergarten through third grade students.
Knox Junior High School
To promote the "Read for a Better Life" campaign, the library hosted a Stop, Drop and Read lock-in. Students brought pillows, bean bags chair and books and enjoyed an afternoon of reading. Students were treated to pizza and door prizes.
Student Council members recently participated in the Interfaith Special Olympic event.
"Knox Knitters" is a new club with the first meeting scheduled for Monday, October 3. Beginning and experienced knitters are welcome to attend.
McCullough Junior High School
The school’s Charity League is sponsoring a "Coats for Kids" coat drive. Please bring new or gently used coats and jackets to the front office collection box October 1-26.
Milam Elementary School
Students and staff will celebrate "Generation Texas Week" with students and staff wearing shirts representing favorite colleges and universities.

The seventh grade football teams won 2 of 3 games against Lynn Lucas Middle School. The C team came out victorious by the score of 20-0, led by running back Israel Flores. The defense played stellar for 4 quarters not giving up many yards. The B team also came away with a win by the score of 19-0. They were led offensively by Colby Ludwig and on defense by Freddie Jones and Keagan Cegelski. The A team played hard but came up short on the scoreboard. They were lead by Larry Lytton and Mason Rey on defense.
The seventh grade B Volleyball team defeated Lynn Lucas. Outstanding players were Mckensie Beauchamp and Brianna Maxwell. Paige Brown is also a star player from the A team.
Rice Elementary School
Individual Pictures are scheduled for Wednesday, October 5.
Tough K-6 School
Walk to School Day is Friday October 14. The Woodlands Township will be out with a few familiar Woodlands mascots to greet the walkers to school that morning. Also, that same Friday is the tenth annual Fall Fest scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Washington Junior High School
Congratulations to art student, Brenda Ostiguin and art teacher, Jayme Tadlock. Brenda's artwork has will be on display at the Texas Association of School Board and School Administrator Conference in Austin.
York Junior High School
The seventh grade boys cross country team finished in second place at the Knox meet. The eight grade boys finished in first place. Seventh grade individual winners included Berry King and Clay Mildren. Eight grade boys were Gustavo Sanchez and Juan Alvarez.
Students in computer applications have been creating poster about their favorite university to promote attending college.
