Birnham Woods Elementary School
The PTO is sponsoring a skate night at SK8 Town on December 15.

 
The Bulldog Best celebration will be held December 15 to honor students who have been following the Bulldog G.R.O.W.L. expectations.


Pajama Day is December 16 with holiday parties scheduled for each grade level.

Broadway Elementary School
Fourth grade recently presented "The Night the Reindeer Rocked." The performance was outstanding. A very special thanks to Gail Miller, Shannon Marshall, Jackie Padgurny, Marcia Byrd, Kerry Bracco, Cathryn Sandel, Danielle Perez, Diane Nelson, and Kim Burns for decorating, costumes, notes home, and all of the behind the scenes help.

The Choir performed for the Carriage Hills Independent Living Center to bring good cheer to the residents.
 
Buckalew Elementary School
The fourth grade music program, "Once on a Housetop," will be held at 6:30 p.m. on December 15.


Bears are looking forward to fun holiday festivities with kindergarten, first, and second grades having holiday parties on December 15 while third and fourth grades will be having their party on December 16.


The Jingle Bell Jog is schedule for December 16.

Bush Elementary School
Classroom holiday parties will be held for all grade levels on December 15.  Party times are: kindergarten-12:30 p.m.;   first grade- 2 p.m.; second grade- 1 p.m.; third grade-1:15 p.m. and fourth grade-9:20 a.m.

Cox Intermediate School

Creighton Elementary School
Mrs. Jerilynn Gallegos and Mrs. Julie Robison, first grade teachers, will host Student Author Celebrations on December 14.


December 15 is Polar Express Day.  Students may wear pajamas to school and enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate delivered by the principal while listening to the story book "The Polar Express."


Holiday parties are scheduled for December 16.

Ford Elementary School
The holiday party for pre-kindergarten students is December 15.


Kindergarten through fourth grades will have parties on December 16.

Galatas Elementary School
Kindergarten, first and second grade holiday parties will take place on December 15. Third and fourth grade holiday parties will take place on December 16.

 
The fourth grade choir will hold a holiday performance on December 16 at 8:15 and 9:15 a.m.

 
Polar Express Day is Friday, December 16. Students and staff will wear their pajamas to school and will have the opportunity to listen to and read "The Polar Express" by Chris Van Allsburg.
 
Grangerland Intermediate School
Students are reading furiously to attain a school wide goal of reading 20,000 books this year. Many have already achieved their first personal goal of reading 5 books and will receive their reward from the National College Basketball Association. Students have also been submitting ideas for the principals' challenge which will be awarded if the school reaches the reading goal.

Houston Elementary School
Fourth-grade students entertained staff, students and parents during their recent performance of "The Nutcracker,"under the direction of Leslie Blanchard, music teacher.  Lead roles were played by Javier Barrera as Nutcracker, Amaya Powell as Marie, Deon Graff as Fritz, and Reynaldo Benejas as the Judge. The science trivia question winner for the week is Jessica Bardales.


Knox Junior High School
The Speech and Debate Team competed in the Oak Ridge Junior High Speech and Debate tournament and came home with the Sweepstakes Trophy.

McCullough Junior High School
The winner of the Holiday Card contest is eighth grader, Rachel Varner. This card will be used as the staff greeting card with Rachel winning a $25 prize for her entry.

 
Highlighted Highlander Award recipients for December were presented with certificates and treated to donuts and juice following a short ceremony. The Highlighted Highlander Award is given to those students who exemplify achievements warranting special recognition such as exhibiting a courteous and respectful attitude, performing a good deed, improved performance or exemplifying great leadership skills. Eighth grade Highlighted Highlanders are Jantz Andersson, Layne Bangerter, Kyle Bartsch, Stephen Brickhouse, Georgia Burner, Avery Davis, Madeline Deveau, Kaela Ead, Hunter Harris, Heidi Higginson, Abigail Holt, Kayla Jefferson, Dylan Jenkins, Abigial Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Nicholas Kallaher, Katherine Kelso, Joseph Kerner, Maria Leu, Erin Maes, Jody Mohammed, Justin Montanari, Nigel Moyer, Maria Navarro, Sabrina Noe, Chandlor Pewitt-Hemphill, Sabrina Pickert, Benjamin Portilla, Taylor Shortt, and Sydney Stobart. Rice Elementary School
Students and staff will be celebrating Polar Express Day on Friday, December 16.  All students are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas to school. Winter classroom celebrations will also be held on Friday, December 16.

Wilkinson Elementary School
The PRIDE Lunch is Wednesday, December 14.
