District News Please join the combined Armed Services Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) of the Conroe Independent School District in a Salute to Our Veterans. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 11, at Moorhead Stadium. A flyover by a B-25 Mitchell Bomber will be provided by the Lone Star Flight Museum of Galveston. The B-25 was a very versatile medium-duty bomber which flew in both the Pacific and European Theaters during World War II.
Austin Elementary School Students are honoring Veterans through a Wall of Honor display.
The Food Drive is Nov 14-Dec 8. Non-perishable food items will be delivered by fourth graders to the Conroe Courthouse on December 9.
Birnham Woods Elementary School A "Dinner with the Bulldogs PTO Fundraiser" will take place at Cici's Pizza on Rayford Road, Thursday, November 10.
A Veteran's Day Parade will take place at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Fourth Grade Choir at 9 a.m.
Broadway Elementary School A special salute to honor all Veterans is planned on Thursday, November 10 at 9:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Area Veterans are invited as third grade students present a program to honor our country and those who have served. Part of this year's program will include a tribute to two of the principal’s family members; her son Jonah and her cousin Jeremy Smith. Jeremy Smith was serving in Afghanistan last March when he gave the ultimate sacrifice, his life.
The library is holding a Fall Book Fair f Nov 9-16. This is a great opportunity to pick up holiday gifts.

Buckalew Elementary School Fred Jones Parent Edition "Tools for Teaching" is a proven set of skills that have been used successfully by teachers since 1969. The Parent Edition shares this positive, practical and low stress approach to creating the best learning environment possible for children. Each presentation centers on a theme that will help parents develop positive relationships with their children. This series begins on November 2 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. and will continue every Wednesday for six weeks. Contact the school if you are interested in taking this parenting class.
The annual Fall Book Fair is November 14-18. A preview of the Book Fair is November 7-11.
The choir will sing at Autumn Grove Cottage in Alden Bridge at 3:15 p.m. on November 10.
The PTO Holiday Food Drive will also be the week of November 14-18 to help stock the shelves of the Interfaith Food Pantry.
Caney Creek High School The Caney Creek Theatre will present "A Piece of My Heart," Saturday, Nov. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $3 for students and $5 for adults.

Collins Intermediate School As part of the Read for a Better Life initiative, students have the opportunity to participate in the Star Reader Program. In the first nine weeks, students have recorded over 1,500 hours of reading. For every goal reached, students receive prizes, certificates, and the opportunity to check out more books at a time from the library.

Ford Elementary School Students with no tardies or absences for the first nine weeks of school will be honored at the Never Ever Absent or Tardy Luncheon on November 8 and 9.
The school will hold a Veteran’s Day Luncheon on November 10. Desserts will be provided for veterans by Stir Crazy Restaurant located in Market Square.
Galatas Elementary School On November 11, fourth grade students will attend a parent-produced Veteran's Day Reader's Theater detailing the history and significance of veterans in the history of our country.

Houston Elementary School Students were motivated with a special assembly from Keith Davis, former college and professional football player, and Randall Harris, World Champion power lifter and gold medalist. These athletes encouraged the students to reach their potential; both inside and outside the classroom; and live with an "I can" attitude.
Knox Junior High School The Knox Chamber Orchestra, Boys Choir and Chamber Choir members recently performed at the Texas Renaissance Festival "School Days" Performance.
Band students attended a recent competition and claimed 47 chairs in the Region 9 All-Region Band.
The Debate Team competed in a regional speech and debate tournament and won the following honors: first place, Michael Bruen; fifth place, Kara Ellis; and seventh place, Emma McMahan.
McCullough Junior High School Fifty-five band students placed in the Region Band.
Orchestra students competed for a spot in the Region IX Orchestra and seventeen students earned a spot.
Spanish classes have created nichos for their Day of the Dead projects. They will be on display in the library until November 11.
Each year students in eighth grade history choose a United States Veteran to honor. Students interview the veteran and then make a poster identifying the branch of the military they served in, their years of service, and other key features. The posters are displayed in front of the school Nov 8-14. The community is invited to view this impressive display of posters honoring over one thousand veterans.
Powell Elementary School The week of November 7-11, students and staff will be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the Interfaith Food Pantry. Fourth grade Choir students will be singing at the "drop-off" event.
