The Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) presented the Conroe Independent School District with the 2012 Advocate of the Year Award. Scott Perry, Supervisor of the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center nominated the District. The award is bestowed to organizations that have rendered significant services to the Society and have made outstanding contributions in the field of parks and recreation.
"TRAPS is grateful for the partnership with Conroe ISD in providing affordable after-school care to families at some CISD schools where their children attend during the day; CISD provides the facility and TRAPS provides the programming and personnel," said Perry. "Close to 400 children are involved in the City of Conroe’s after-school programs each day where they receive academic support and can engage in appropriate activities for children under the supervision of trained and caring adults."
