The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees gave special recognition to outstanding managers and employees in the Child Nutrition Department at their May meeting.

Conroe ISD awards Ambassador Awards to recognize individuals for their positive contributions to campus life and campus climate. The Board of Trustees was proud to honor the following five employees from The Child Nutrition Department for their extraordinary contribution to the District.

Michelle Harding is the cafeteria manager at Patterson Elementary, and has been with CISD for five years. Michelle went above and beyond this year to promote breakfast to the students, and even organized a 50s themed breakfast to celebrate National School Breakfast Week. Michelle is always willing to help, is an excellent trainer, and serves quality meals to the students.

Kasey Williams, cafeteria manager at The Woodlands High School, has been with CISD for three years. She did an excellent job during the Child Nutrition audit, and her demeanor never changes even when times are stressful. She is friendly to the students and staff, is very organized, and runs the kitchen efficiently.

Traci Smith is a new manager at Oak Ridge Elementary, and has been with the District for three years. Although Traci is a new manager, the Oak Ridge Elementary kitchen passed the Child Nutrition audit with flying colors. She takes pride in her work and truly cares about the students. She loves working for the department, and it shows in her attitude.

Vira Jefferson is an associate at David Elementary. She has been with CISD for two years. She has a positive attitude and outstanding job performance. Vira is always smiling and has a can-do attitude every day. She adjusts to change with ease and enthusiasm, and her response to anything given to her is “We got this girl!”

Maria Valdez de Correa has been with CISD for two years and is an associate at Peet Junior High. She has such a pleasant attitude and welcomes the students each day. Maria works very efficiently and can do anything she is asked to do. She helps everyone in the kitchen and is very patient.

The Director of Child Nutrition, Robyn Hughes, introduced these employees to the Board.

After presenting each recipient with their award, Trustee Skeeter Hubert stated, “On behalf of the Board, we want to personally say thank you for what you do. We understand that Child Nutrition is vital for [the students’] success. We appreciate your dedication to the kids.”
