Broadway Elementary

Buckalew Elementary
Each week students have the opportunity to be nominated as a “Student of the Week” when they demonstrate any of the 7 Keys to Success we teach at Buckalew. Students nominated receive a special certificate to take home. They are then entered into a weekly drawing. The Winners are on the announcements and are presented a “Principal’s Medallion”. One Student per grade level is drawn weekly. Congratulations to the following students for the week of November 14: Zoe Purkiss, Andrew Reilly, Lillie McMullin, Cole Spence and Lily Davis-Schireo.

 

The Always There Bear winning classes for October are Mrs. Murphy, Mrs. Warren/Mrs. Balzer, Mrs. Fuller, Mrs. Saheb and Mrs. Triem. These classes had the best attendance for the month.

 

November 30, Toro is here to entertain the children. We will all wear our Texans Gear!

 

Don’t forget the Toy Drive November 28 to December 9. Please bring new toys unwrapped.

 

Bush Elementary
The Conroe ISD Board of Trustees honors individuals for their positive contributions to campus life and campus climate, with an Ambassador Award. Board Member Melanie Bush and Superintendent Dr. Don Stockton recently visited Bush to present the awards to student, Noah Bratsch, Educator, Doris Costenbader and Paraprofessional, Elizabeth Cornish. Congratulations to all of you!

 

On Thursday, December 1, our Choir will perform a winter concert at 8:25 a.m. for the student body, and again at 6:30 p.m. for family and friends.

 

Friday, December 2, Fourth Grade will hold their Funraiser Lock-In and Kindergarten will hold a Polar Express themed fun evening! Each fourth grader and kindergartner should have brought home their respective sign up forms.

 

On Wednesday, December 7, our Parent Teacher Organization will sponsor a California Pizza Share Night.

 

On Thursday, December 8, the Parent Teacher Organization Board will hold a meeting. All members are invited to attend. Also on December 8, Second Grade will Host an Open House and perform a special Holiday Program.

 

On Friday, December 9, members of our Parent Teacher Organization will be at school totaling Box Tops for Education. Please send in all Box Tops on this date.

 
Collins Intermediate

Cox Intermediate

Creighton Elementary
Girls on the Run is a physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in third grade. The program teaches life skills through interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Our second grade teacher, Lauren Hoffart, started the program at our campus with the help of dedicated staff serving as coaches. Our amazing young ladies ran a 5K in The Woodlands recently and they will end their season with a 5K in Houston on December 3. Go Cubs! Go Girls!

 

Thursday, December 8, fourth grade will present their holiday musical at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Please join us for a fun and festive performance.

 

David Elementary
David Elementary fourth graders will perform “Polar Express” for their program on Tuesday, December 13 at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The fourth grade choir will also perform during the program. The program is an annual tradition for the fourth grade students and they have been working hard to prepare!

 

The David PTO will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, December 13 at 1:30 p.m. Parents and PTO members are invited to attend.

 

Giesinger Elementary
Reading Benchmark tests will be taken by fourth graders on Tuesday, November 29, and third graders on Wednesday, November 30.

 

“The Nutcracker” is an annual musical event! Fourth graders will perform “The Nutcracker” on Thursday, December 1 at 7 p.m. at Conroe High School for parents and our community. They will perform it again on Wednesday, December 7, for students and staff at 9 a.m. on campus.

 

Math Benchmark tests will be taken by third graders on Tuesday, December 6, and fourth graders on Thursday, December 8.

 

Yearbooks on Sale Now! Don’t miss out on a chance to purchase the 2016-2017 Giesinger yearbook! An order form has been sent home in your child’s Tuesday folder. Additional order forms are available in the front office, and you can also purchase them online from Balfour.

 
Hailey Elementary
Attendance counts for every child every day. Congratulations to Mrs. Pepperman’s, Mrs. Heffner’s, Mrs. Tomasek’s, and Mrs. Steffy’s classes for achieving 10 Attendance Rockets for the whole class being on time and staying at school all day!

 

Penguin Patch Holiday Store will be open November 27-December 1 during all lunches.

 

We will host a STEM Club for third and fourth grade students this coming spring semester. If you are interested in your third or fourth grader attending the club and you would like more details, please attend our information session on December 1 at 5:30 p.m. We will need 10 parent volunteers to make our club possible, so please consider volunteering.

 

The Parent Teacher Association will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, December 1, at 6 p.m. in the school library.

 

The annual Jingle Bell Run is Friday, December 2 at the Knox Jr. High track. Please see Wednesday folder for more information including your student’s running and lunch time on this day.

 

The fourth grade Choir performs Saturday, December 3 at 10 a.m. at the Grogan’s Mill Farmers Market, and Saturday, December 10 at 10 a.m. at VillaSport.

 

The third grade music program will be presented Thursday, December 8 at 6 p.m. in the Hailey cafeteria. Third graders should report to the music room at 5:40 p.m. to prepare for the program.

 

Second grade is holding their annual toy drive December 1-13. Please send unwrapped toys to contribute to this worthy local effort.

 

Our Lost & Found collection is growing and will soon be cleared out for donation. Please visit the Lost & Found collection when you are on campus for daytime or evening events, and encourage your child to retrieve their personal belongings during the school day. Please write your child’s name in their jackets, sweaters, and lunch boxes.

 

Students can bring aluminum cans, foil, pans, and aluminum computer parts for recycling every Friday morning for our Cash for Cans program, which also helps support our school. Please deliver recyclables to the front porch when arriving at school.

 
Irons Junior High
Irons Junior High is proud to recognize the following “Students of The Week” for their academic or social achievements.

 

Mrs. Berdecio and the rest of Team 4 would like to recognize Audrey Kent for consistently putting forth her best effort in class and having a positive attitude!

 

Ms. Fisk would like to recognize Anela Guevarra and Ava Garrelts for nearly always going above and beyond what is required of them in class. Their hard work shows.

 

Ms. Fischer’s of the week is Cooper Shay. Cooper is being recognized for his outstanding effort in math class. Ms. Fischer wants to compliment him on how polite and respectful he is to his teachers. You don’t see too many students with these kind of manners these days, and he definitely sticks out! Way to go Cooper.

 

Mrs. Mlcak would like to recognize a student who has worked very hard in class and at home in order to complete his first spread for the December yearbook deadline. This awesome student is Slade Wright-Gonzalez.

 

Outstanding Choir singers of the week are: Mereiedi Dunn and Barrett Talamantes.

 

Theater Arts actors of the week are Jessica North from Theatre one class and from Theatre Troupe Rod Hobbs. Rod is being recognized for his awesome lighting design and his work on Agatha Rex.

 

Orchestra Student of the Week is Jesse Bankston. Thank you for your extraordinary effort!

 

Cheerleaders of the week are Madison Dornak, Taylor Peck.

 

The Liberty Stars would like recognize the Dancer of the Week, Emma Villareal and Spirit Girl of the Week, Rose Richards. Way to go ladies!

The seventh grade Lady Hawks Star Athlete of the Week is Peyton Lundberg.

Kaufman Elementary
Saturday, December 3 students and their parents will get to enjoy hot cocoa with Santa and preview the Peppermint Village Store, which will run Monday, December 5 through Friday December 9.

 

Thursday, December 8 will be third grade’s Christmas program at 6:30 p.m. for family and friends.

 

Friday, December 9 third grade will do a second performance of their Christmas program for students and faculty at 9 a.m. Second grade will be decorating gingerbread houses and placing them on display in the library for everyone to enjoy the following week.
There will also be a PTO General Meeting at 1:30 p.m.

 

Mitchell Intermediate
On Wednesday, November 30, LC 11 will take a field trip to Spring Creek Nature Center sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization.

 

On Thursday, December 1, LC 12 will take a field trip to Spring Creek Nature Center sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization.

 

On Friday, December 2, the Parent Teacher Organization will sponsor a fifth grade Social from 4-6 p.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

 

The sixth grade Math Benchmark will be administered on Tuesday, December 6.

 

Mitchell Intermediate will hold a blood drive here on campus in honor of Lily Skeen, daughter of our Instructional Coach, Dr. Christel Skeen. If you would like more information, please call the Mitchell Intermediate front office.

 

The Mitchell Intermediate sixth grade Band will hold a concert on Thursday, December 8 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

 

The sixth grade Reading Benchmark will be administered on Friday, December 9.

 
Reaves Elementary
Spirit Links begins November 30. Students may purchase links for a chain to surround our hallways. If we reach our goal the principals will participate in a fun activity for all to see.

PTO will host our first Holiday Market November 28 – December 2.

 

Reaves Reward Luncheon to honor our good citizenship will be held on November 30 in the cafeteria.

 

Save those Bees Bucks! Titan Book share arrives on December 9. You may purchase one paperback book for 10 bees bucks.

 

Rice Elementary
Friday, December 2 Rice Way Pep Rallies will be held.

 

Rice fourth grade students will present their music program on Friday, December 9 at 9 a.m.

 

Saturday, December 10 will be our Rice CYCLE Reading Incentive delivery day.

 

Our third grade GT students will have an expo in the library on Monday, December 12.

 

Polar Express Day will be Thursday, December 15.

 

Thursday, December 15 our third graders will host their culture fair in the library.

 

Holiday desserts will be enjoyed by each class on Friday, December 16.

 
Peet Junior High
Members of the Peet Band participated in Region Band Auditions. The Peet Band had 21 students participate in the auditions. We would like to congratulate the following students for earning a chair in one of the 2016 Region 9 Junior High Region Bands: Cameron Collins on Flute, Mia Murray-Schroeder on Flute, Garrett Hallbauer on Oboe, Shane Joseph on Bassoon, Jada Masha on Alto Sax, Jacob Frosch on French Horn, and Mia Arnsworth on Trombone. These students will perform with the Region Band on December 10 at McCullough Junior High.

 

Congratulations to these Peet Band students on their achievement! Mrs. Blackiston and Mr. Brewer are extremely proud of you!

 

We would also like to thank all of our band students, band parents and the Peet staff for all your help with hosting the contest here at Peet on October 22. We could not have done it without you. We are extremely fortunate to teach at such a great school!

 

NJHS members completed a service project at the East Texas Dream Center on November 12. They wrapped gifts that will later be distributed to those that live near the center.

 

Saturday, November 12, Peet’s Theatre Troupe participated in the district’s One Act Play rating where they received the top rating of Superior for their performance of “Can you hear them Crying?” by Virginia Burton Stringer. We also had many individual awards: Jennifer Tobar and Lupita Tobar received a trophy for best tech. Ashlyn Niquette, Lillian Shellnut, and Brett Allen received a trophy for being selected as honorable mention allstar cast. Madi Babb and Jillian Vajda both received a trophy for being selected to the All Star Cast.

 

Congratulations to Collin Edwards. He was selected for Philharmonic Region Orchestra. He performed on Saturday, November 19 at Klein High School.

 

Congratulations to Adeline Hale. She was selected for Symphony Region Orchestra. She performed on Saturday, November 19 at Klein High School. Mrs. Baldwin is so very proud of you. Mrs. Baldwin also wants to thank Sarah Porras, Sophie McDowell, Cameron Clark, Cang Nguyen, Joseph De Hoyos and David Jarrell for all their hard work.

 

You all are truly an amazing talented group of young musicians. Congratulations!

Powell Elementary
Kindergarten students will celebrate Rudolph Day December 2.

 

The Parent Teacher Organization will provide a Spirit Store December 2 at 7:30 a.m.

 

The kindergarten Holiday Program will be Tuesday, December 6.

 

The Treble-Makers choir concert will be December 8 at 6 p.m.

 

Kindergarten and second grade will celebrate Grinch Day December 9.

 

Students will participate in a food drive for the Interfaith Food Pantry December 9.

 

Snyder Elementary
This month’s Superstar Celebration for Character will take place Friday, December 2.

 

Join us Friday December 2 at 6:30 p.m. for our Candy Cane 2K

 

The Holiday Shoppe is coming to Snyder December 5-9.

 
Stewart Elementary
Student Council is now collecting gently used books for our third annual Book Swap to be held on Wednesday, December 7. If you wish to donate gently used books, please bring them to school November 16 – December 5.

 

Join us for Movie Night on Friday, December 2. Pizza orders for this event are now being collected.

 

PTO Holiday store to be held December 5-9. Information will be coming home in Tuesday folders.

 

Students and staff will celebrate Polar Express Day with pajamas and hot cocoa on Tuesday, December 13.
