Campus Updates: May 25 – 31

Bozman Intermediate
Sixth Grade Kick the STAAR Soccer Tournament (only students with permission forms turned may go) will be on May 27.

Bozman Yearbooks will be distributed on May 27.

On May 31, Bozman’s Got Talent Show at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Field Day (sixth grade –a.m.; fifth grade –p.m.) and class parties will be June 1.

June 2 – Awards Day (fifth grade – 10 a.m.; sixth grade 11 a.m.)

 

Broadway Elementary
At 9:16 a.m. on May 26 is our kindergarten program and promotion.

We have our A/B Honor Roll celebration on May 26, too.

Then on Friday, May 27 we are having our A Honor Roll celebration as well as the Character Walk of Fame at 2:15 pm.

On Tuesday, May 31 is our Fourth grade promotion at 9:15 a.m.

Our class parties are on June 1 and our fourth grade Clap Out is Thursday, June 2 at 2:30 p.m.

 

Buckalew Elementary
On Friday, May 27 students will be allowed to shop for paperback books in The Paperback Book Exchange. Here is how it works: Students can being up to 25 used (but in good condition) paperback books to the library Monday, May 23 – Wednesday, May 25 during their regular library time or before school.  There is a great need for our soon to be fifth grade students.  Students will receive “book bucks” for each book brought in depending upon the number of pages. These book bucks are used to purchase “new” books.   Happy shopping and summer reading!

The winners of the Always There Bears in April are:  kindergarten, Mrs. Hagan’s Class, first grade, Mrs. Balzer’s Class, second grade, Mr. Cohen’s Class. Third grade, Mrs. Garrett’s Class and fourth grade, Mrs. Tibodeaux’s Class.  Attendance makes a big difference to our school and every student’s personal success.

Congratulations to the winners of the “Principal’s Award” Medallions this week.  The winners are Chloe Foma, Sophia Hickman-Chow, Nolan Laird, Owen Neves, and Willliam O’Rourke.

 

Bush Elementary
On Thursday, May 26, fourth grade will hold an Open House at 6 p.m. and perform their program, “The Fisherman and his Wife,” at 7 p.m.

On Friday, May 27, third grade will participate in market day and first grade will go to the park for a Safety Day.

Monday, May 30, school will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

 

Caney Creek High School
The Head Start program will have its graduation on May 25 in the auditorium.

Graduation will be held at Sam Houston University on May 28 at 10 a.m.  The coliseum is located at 1964 Bobby K. Marks Drive Huntsville, Texas 77340.

Finals will start on May 27.  The 7 Period final will be May 27. First and second on May 31. Third and fourth on June 1. And fifth and sixth in June 2.

The school will be closed on Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day.

 

Collins Intermediate
We would like to congratulate the Collins sixth grade Honor Band on an outstanding performance this past Tuesday, May 17 at the Cavalier Band Festival at College Park High School!  The students sounded amazing and earned a Division One rating from the judges.  Mrs. Willer, Mrs. Kelley and Mr. Moran are incredibly proud of them for all of their hard work and for being great students.  Bravo Collins Honor Band!

Creighton Elementary
Our staff will host a Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on May 26 at 3:30 p.m. in the library. Parent and community volunteers play a vital role in academic and civic education that impacts student’s lives. We appreciate their dedication to our students as a supportive helper, role model, and guide.

The first grade Awards Ceremony is Friday, May 27, at 9 a.m. in the cafeteria.

The second grade Awards Ceremony is Friday, May 27, at 1 p.m. in the cafeteria.

May 30 is a school holiday for students and staff.

Our Kindergarten End of Year Program will be Tuesday, May 31, at 9 a.m. in the cafeteria. Students will demonstrate what they have learned over the past year. They will receive a Kindergarten certificate and other awards.

The third grade Awards Ceremony is Tuesday, May 31, at 1 p.m. in the cafeteria.

 

Cryar Intermediate
Congratulations to Jamie Garza, Patricia Becerra, Ruth Vaduva, Kaitlyn Andrews,
Joseph Minas and Blayson Vallejos for each receiving a reward from the Purrr-fect Attendance Incentive Program.

Monday, May 30 is a school holiday.

The last day of the 2015-16 school year is Thursday, June 2.

Make sure that we have your current mailing address on file because final report cards will be mailed home the week of June 6.

 

Hailey Elementary
Thank you very much to all of our mentors who have supported our students throughout the school year. Our mentors have met with students weekly to support them academically and socially, and we are very grateful for their encouragement of our students.

Friday, May 27, the Kindergarten will present their music program at 9 a.m.

Third grade students will participate in a reenactment of Ellis Island Friday, May 27.  Students research their ancestors, immigration, and the cultures that created the melting pot of the United States. Parents, teachers, and students work hard to recreate this important time in our history.

CISD will be closed Monday, May 30, for Memorial Day.

Congratulations to ­­­­Mrs. Steffy’s and Mr. Schenk’s classes for achieving their 10 Sailboat Awards this week. Attendance every day and all day helps students learn better.

Students can bring aluminum cans, foil, pans, and aluminum computer parts for recycling every Friday morning for our Cash for Cans program, which also helps support our school. Please deliver recyclables to the front porch when arriving at school.

 

Kaufman Elementary
Second graders will continue having fun participating in activities during Camp Learned A Lot which will conclude on Friday, May 27.

Wednesday, May 25, fourth grade will visit Vogel Intermediate at 9:15 a.m.   There will also be a parent meeting at Vogel at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Thursday, May 26, fourth graders will perform their last program as a Kaufman Cougar.  They will perform at 9:20 a.m. for the students and staff and again at 6:30 p.m. for friends and family.

Friday, May 27 will be the last Cool Cougar luncheon for the year.  Also on this day, the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will be hosting the end of the year Fun Day which starts at 8 a.m.

Tuesday, May 31, Kindergarten will participate in Fun Day rotations.  Second grade will have a Read In. Fourth grade will have game day beginning at 9 a.m.  There will be award ceremonies for second grade at 8:15 a.m., first grade at 11 a.m. and third grade at 1:30 p.m.

 

Giesinger Elementary
Parents will be notified of third and fourth grade STAAR results by June 30. STAAR results will not be mailed to parents. Instead, parents will be notified by an email to let them know to access their child’s scores through a Parent Access account. To register for Parent Access go to: https://www.conroeisd.net/parents/

Field Day will be held on two mornings coming up. Tuesday morning, May 24, will be Field Day for PPCD through Second Grade, and Wednesday morning, May 25, will be Field Day for Third and Fourth Grades.  Students will eat sack lunches these two days.

The final Accelerated Reader (AR) party will be on Tuesday, May 31, for those second, third, and fourth graders who have reached their Accelerated Reader goal.

 

Glen Loch Elementary
The Volunteer Tea will be held on Wednesday, May 25 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thank you so much to all our amazing volunteers.

The third grade field trip will be on Thursday, May 26 to the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Fourth grade will celebrate authors on Thursday, May 26.

Kindergarten will have an Ice Cream Social on Friday May 27.

There is no school on Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day.

The Chick-Fil-A luncheon for June will be held on Tuesday, May 31.

Mitchell Intermediate
LC 5 will go to Ball Metal Beverage Packaging facility in Conroe on Wednesday, May 25, sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization.

International Market Day presented by the Mitchell Intermediate sixth graders will be held on Wednesday, May 25.

The Mitchell Intermediate, Life Skills Field Day will be on Wednesday, May 24 beginning at 9 a.m.

LC 6 will go to Ball Metal Beverage Packaging facility in Conroe on Thursday, May 26, sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization.

Fifth grade Yearbook signing day will be on Thursday, May 26 at 9 a.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

Sixth grade Yearbook signing day will be on Thursday, May 26 at 2:45 p.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

The sixth grade Spring Band Concert will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 6 p.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

LC 2 will go to Ball Metal Beverage Packaging facility in Conroe on Friday, May 27, sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization.

The sixth grade Fine Arts Concert for school students will be held on Friday, May 27 at 9:15 a.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

The fifth grade Fine Arts Concert for school students will be held on Friday, May 27 at 2:15 p.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

The Choir PJ Party will be held on Friday, May 27 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

There will be no school on Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day.

The fifth grade Talent Show will be held on Tuesday, May 31 at 9 a.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

The sixth grade Talent Show will be held on Tuesday, May 31 at 2 p.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

 

Tough Elementary
Coulson Tough second graders conducted their annual food drive in May and collected 2,553 pounds of food for the Interfaith Food Pantry.  These donations will go a long way in assisting those in our area affected by the recent flooding.

The annual Coulson Tough Talent show was held on May 17.  Through donations and ticket sales, the Coulson Tough student council raised over $1,500 for the CT Scholarship fund.

Congratulations to this year’s Coulson Tough Scholarship winners, Raquel Nunez, Sarah Kaplan and Sofia Amado.  Good luck in your future endeavors.

On Saturday, April 30, several Coulson Tough fifth grade band students competed in a Solo and Ensemble contest at Mitchell Intermediate. Mr. Norris and Mrs. Flake are thrilled to announce that the following students received a First Division rating: Ana Alvarez, Kianna Anderson, Gabriel Aviles, Colleen Brown, Abbey Busic, Caitlyn Carrie, Aiden Chowdhury, Vaughn Clove, Riley Ellis, Anna Green, Bella Haden, John Hall, Christopher Ince, Avery Joseph, Cameron Kounthapanya, Jacob Kozlowsky, Katelyn Mann, Kaitlyn Maresca, Brooke McMullan, Montse Milke, Izzy Morton, Summer Nowlin, Sohi Patel, Dorian Reis, Jenny Robert, Arnav Sastry, Sofia Skinner, Alyssa Stroud, Austin Weiland, and Derek Zarur. In addition, eight students were chosen as Star Performers for outstanding musicianship. Congratulations to: Kianna Anderson, Colleen Brown, Vaughn Clove, Bella Haden, Avery Joseph, Katelyn Mann, Sofia Skinner, and Derek Zarur. Their teachers are so proud of their dedication, hard work, and perseverance!

 

Wilkerson Intermediate
The Orchestra String Fling will be held at College Park High School on Wednesday, May 25 from 6-8 p.m.

The End of the Year Celebration for sixth grade is on Wednesday, May 26.

The Fine Arts Spring Concert will be Friday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. for sixth grade and at 10:40 for fifth grade. The performance is for students only and is not a public performance due to space.
