Campus Updates: April 6 – 12

Buckalew Elementary School
Weekly, students have the opportunity to be nominated for a “Student of the Week” when they demonstrate any of the 7 Keys to Success we teach at our school. Students nominated receive a special certificate to take home. They are then entered into a weekly drawing. The winners are on the announcements and are presented a “Principal’s Award” Medallion. One student per grade level is drawn weekly. Congratulations to the following students from the last two weeks: They are Yarliela Brown, Ashton Johnson, Sierra McMullen, Sofie Sims, John Williams, Finley Mauchlen, Alice Meyer,Lauren Murphy, Murphy Page, and Lisa Strobel.

The Spring Carnival is just around the corner. This is a fun family evening for all. The date is April 9 from 4-7 p.m. in the back parking lot. We will have 16 carnival booths and prizes, 3 large inflatables and two toddler inflatables, a live DJ, Shelly the Clown, and friend, a graffiti wall, free throw contest, yearbook exhibit, 3 food trucks, Mrs. Cotton Candy, $1 kid’s raffle and 30+ items on auction. Don’t miss out on the fun!

Bush Elementary School
Congratulations to our Paws for Pride (Humanitarian) winners for the month of February. These students received this award for extraordinary acts of kindness. The students received a certificate and a medal. They are from kindergarten, Kinley Brewer; first grade, Weston McKellar; second grade, Caelyn Hoffman; third grade, Kinsey Quitter; fourth grade, Kevin Vajgrt.

Congratulations to Damien Middleton, who received a perfect score on the second of three Word Masters Challenges, a national vocabulary competition. Of the nearly 150,000 students who compete nationally, Damien was one of 46 fourth graders to achieve a perfect score.

Thursday, April 7 is a big day here at Bush. From 4 to 6 p.m., we will hold late night registration for all new students. At 5:30 p.m. we will hold an informational meeting for all incoming Kindergarten parents. Lastly, at 6:30, our current Kindergartners will hold their program.

On Friday, April 8, First Grade will go a field trip to the Oil Ranch.

On Tuesday, April 12, the third and fourth grade Choir will hold a concert at 6:30 p.m.

Collins Intermediate School
April 9 the CISD sixth grade Solo and Ensemble Contest at Wilkerson beginning at 8 a.m.

April 11 the PTO meeting beginning at 1:15 p.m., everyone is welcome to attend.

Cox Intermediate School

Creighton Elementary School
Kindergarten Round-Up late registration night is Thursday, April 7, from 1 – 6 p.m. If you have a student that will start Kindergarten in the fall of 2016 you may pre-register them.

Friday, April 8 our Life Skills and Social Development Classes will take a field trip to the Montgomery County Fair. Students will interact with the fair animals, ride a few rides at the carnival, and enjoy lunch at the fairgrounds.

Friday, April 8, fourth grade students will visit the Conroe YMCA. Students will participate in horseback riding, boating, rock wall climbing, and many other fun activities as a reward for meeting and exceeding their academic goals.

Friday, April 8, kindergarten students will visit Seven Acre Woods. Students will visit the petting zoo, western play town, and have a picnic lunch.

Monday, April 11, second grade students will visit the Montgomery County Fair.

Tuesday, April 12, fourth grade students will visit the Sam Houston Memorial Museum in Huntsville.

Cryar Intermediate School
Congratulations to Wilmer Barillas, Licheng Lin, Dayana Solorzano, Emily Gomez, Bailey Johnston and Lily Thompson for each receiving a reward from the Purrr-fect Attendance Incentive Program. Student council’s spring community service project is April 4-15.

We are collecting old and new shoes to help Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas and Conroe Animal Shelter. Students can put their shoe donations in the collection box in their learning community’s math classroom. The learning community with the most pairs of shoes collected will earn a special treat from student council. The goal is to collect 100 bags of shoes, which contain 25 pairs each.

David Elementary School
David Elementary’s annual David’s Dream Run will be held Saturday, April 23 at Woodforest Stadium. The event is held to honor David Vetter’s dream to “run barefoot in the grass”. All proceeds from the one mile and 5K run/walk go to the David Center at Texas Children’s Hospital. Giesinger Elementary School
Kindergarten Round Up is April 4 -8. Kindergarten registration is for children who are 5 years old on or before September 1, 2016. Information and forms will be available in the front office.

Tate Trantham and Taylor Pell participated in the First Tee Golf Tournament. Congratulations to Tate, Taylor and our P.E. teacher, Mrs. Edgar, for a job well done!

PreK classes and PPCD class will be going on their field trip Thursday, April 7.

Our spring Scholastic Book Fair will be Monday through Thursday, April 11-14. Hours are Monday through Wednesday 7:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m., Thursday hours are 7:30 a.m.- 6:45 p.m. The book fair will be closed Friday, April 15.

Glen Loch Elementary School
Thank you Spring Creek Barbeque for the donation from the last Gator Takeover.

Kindergarten Roundup takes place during the week of April 4. Register your future kindergartener for next year. Refer to the Glen Loch Elementary website for more information.

The Parent Teacher Organization’s Spring Carnival will be held on Saturday April 9 from 12 to 3 p.m.

The Parent Teacher Organization’s school store will be open during Active Start before school on Thursday, April 7.

Hailey Elementary School
First grade students will visit The Forum with a traveling music performance April 6-7 during the school day. Please watch the Wednesday folder and first grade newsletter for more information.

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will sponsor Donuts with Dad April 7-8 at 7:30 a.m.

Thursday, April 7, Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade students are invited to eat donuts with their dads, and second, third and fourth grades will come on Friday, April 8. Children are welcome to bring another special adult if their dad is unable to attend.

The Parent Teacher Association will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, April 7, at 6 p.m. in the school library.

Kindergarten Round-up Registration continues through April 8. Children who are five years old by September 1, 2016, are eligible to attend kindergarten.

Our staff and parents will recognize one student from each class during a presentation of “Spotlight on Character” Tuesday, April 12. The students are selected based on their demonstration of the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. April’s “Spotlight on Character” will honor students that model good citizenship. Congratulations to all of our honorees.

April 12 at 5-9 p.m. is Hailey Spirit Night at Spring Creek Bar-B-Que. Please let the front door host know you are from Hailey and a percentage of all sales will be donated to our PTA.

Congratulations to Mrs. Heffner’s and Ms. Chalmers’ classes for achieving their 10 Sailboat Awards this week. Attendance every day and all day helps students learn better.

Please label your child’s jackets, sweaters, and lunch boxes with their first and last name. Many items in our Lost & Found collection do not have the owner’s name. Parents are encouraged to visit our Lost & Found when on campus. Help us make a change to our school playground with your spare change.

From now until the end of April, change will be collected by each grade level for the Playground Project. You can help by sending in your spare change to school with your child. Students can bring aluminum cans, foil, pans, and aluminum computer parts for recycling every Friday morning for our Cash for Cans program, which also helps support our school. Please deliver recyclables to the front porch when arriving at school.

Kaufman Elementary School

Friday, April 8, second grade will go on a field trip to the Houston Zoo. Also, on this day, at 6 p.m. Kaufman will have our first ever Neon Dance to celebrate our ten year anniversary.

Lamar Elementary School
Please join us on April 8 at our School Carnival! Lamar Rocks!

Reaves Elementary School
Please join us for Weird Science Night April 7 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. We will enjoy science experiences in each grade level.

Pre K will enjoy their Field Trip on April 13 to the farm.

 

Mitchell Intermediate School
Mitchell Intermediate would like for all school volunteers to come to our Volunteer Brunch in the school commons on Wednesday, April 6 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

The fifth grade Field Day will take place on Friday, April 8 beginning at 1:30 p.m.

CISD sixth grade Band & Orchestra Solo & Ensemble will take place on Saturday, April 9 at Wilkerson Intermediate School beginning at 9 a.m.

 

The Mitchell Intermediate Parent Teacher Organization will hold a General Meeting on Monday, April 11 at 9 a.m.

Rice Elementary School
B B Rice will conduct our yearly Kindergarten Round Up the week of Monday, April 4.

The Specials Team at Rice invites everyone to our Spectrum of Fun night on Thursday, April 7 from 5:30 pm until 7 p.m.

The Rice PTO will sponsor a Mother/Son Dance on Friday, April 15 from 6 until 8 p.m.

Rice Way Lunches will be held Tuesday, April 19.

Snyder Elementary School
The Snyder Derby and Carnival was a great success! Thank you to everyone that came out to support our school.

Mother Goose will be visiting Snyder April 14 and 15. Students in Pre-K through second grade will be enjoying her presentation.

Important dates coming up include Fuddruckers Spirit Night on April 25 and this month’s Superstar Celebration for Character on April 28.

Stewart K-6 School
Mark your calendar for Kindergarten Graduation Pictures on Tuesday, April 12. Order information will come home at a later time.

Wilkerson Intermediate School
The sixth grade Math Benchmark will be on Thursday, April 7.
