Campus Updates: April 27 – May 3

Broadway Elementary
Our Field Day which was scheduled for Friday, April 22, has been postponed due to all the rain that we have received this past week.  It will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Fourth grade students at Broadway are going on a Field trip to Sam Houston Museum on Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29.  They have worked so hard and are looking forward to this trip with great anticipation.

Buckalew Elementary
Congratulations to the winners of the “Principal’s Award” Medallions this week.  The Winners are Ira Bhasin, Mrs. Wean’s class, Elizabeth Blethen, Mrs. Hagan’s class, Kyleah Blevins, Mrs. Fuller’s class, Emily Cordier, Mrs. Lunsford’s class, and Taryn Farnsworth, Mrs. Welch’s class.  Good work everyone!

Bush Elementary
Congratulations to our librarian, Meagan Tiblier; our special education para, Brenda Hooker; and student, Sam Wilson for receiving the CISD Ambassador Awards at the Bush Elementary Campus.  We are so happy for all of you!

Caney Creek High School
The Powderpuff game has been rescheduled for May 4 at 4:30 p.m.  If you interested in participating please email – Ms. Lewallen at jllewallen@conroeisd.net.

Shattered Lives will take place at the school on April 28 and 29.  Shattered Lives is a program that demonstrates the effects of what drinking and driving has on the entire community.  The program reenacts a crash of a teen drinking and driving and all the possible outcomes that that action has.

STAAR EOC testing will start on Monday, May 2 and continue until May 4, with makeup dates on May 5 and 6.

Prom is scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at the Lone Star Convention Center. The cost is $50. The tickets can be bought by visiting Ms. Greenmyer in the front office.

Collins Intermediate
On Wednesday, April 27 at 9 a.m. will be the Collins incoming fifth grade Parent Information Meeting.

On Wednesday, April 27, at 4:30 p.m. incoming fifth grader Instrument Selection night.

Teacher Appreciation week will be May 2 – May 6.

Congratulations to all of our fifth graders who participated in the Solo and Ensemble at College Park this past Saturday. You all did an amazing job and we can’t wait to hear you play again.

Creighton Elementary
Progress Reports will be sent home on Wednesday, April 27.

Field Day is April 29.  Prekindergarten students through fourth grade will participate in a fun filled day. Students will navigate an inflatable obstacle course, slide down the largest slide in Montgomery County, compete in a tug of war contest, and enjoy popcorn and a cool snow cone.

Cryar Intermediate
Buy one, get one free book fair in the Cryar library on Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6. The book fair is cash only and ends at noon on Friday.

Ford Elementary
The Spring Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon!  Mark your calendar for May 16 – 20, to shop the book fair and pick up a few good titles for your child’s summer reading.  We hope to see you there.  If you would like to volunteer to help out in the book fair, please contact Mrs. Bayer at 832-592-5716.  You help is always appreciated.

Galatas Elementary
The PTO will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 3, at 10 a.m. in the PTO room.

Glen Loch Elementary
The second grade music program has been rescheduled and will now be held on Thursday, April 28 at 9 a.m. and again at 7 p.m.

The next Parent Teacher Organization meeting will be held at 12 p.m. in the library on Monday, May 2.

McCullough Junior High
As a reminder, May 2 at 4 p.m. is the final deadline for all elective requests, core course selections, physical education requirement choices, and submission of private physical education paperwork for the 2016-2017 academic year. Requests can be submitted electronically via email to your child’s counselor.

Recently McCullough was named a Texas Honor Roll school by the Education Results Partnership. This award is given to a select few schools statewide who demonstrate consistently higher levels of academic achievement, improvement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps. 11 of our students recently received the Duke TIP Grand Recognition. These students took the high school ACT or SAT college entrance tests as 7th graders! McCullough had almost 200 of those 7th graders who qualified to actually sign up to take these tests. These 11 students recognized represent those who scored among the top 3% across the nation!

Mitchell Intermediate
Wednesday, April 27, will be Crust Pizza Day for Mitchell Community Service Club.  Please mention Mitchell Intermediate and a portion of each purchase will go to our Mitchell Scholarship Fund.

The Mitchell Percussion Ensemble Concert will be held on Thursday, April 28 at 6:30p.m.

The sixth grade Orchestra Showcase will be held on April 29 at Campus Rob Fleming Aquatic Center at 6:30 p.m.

Fifth grade Talent Show tryouts will be held on Monday, May 2 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Mitchell Commons.

Peet Junior High
The Chamber orchestras went to Tomball Memorial HS on Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8 for UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Chamber 7 non-varisty and Chamber 8 varsity both received Sweepstakes, which is a Superior rating.  Way to go Chamber 7 and Chamber 8!! Mrs. Baldwin could not be more proud of the dedication, hard work and hours of practice time these students put in to get this honor.

On Tuesday, April 12 the Symphonic Band attended the Non-Varsity UIL Concert & Sight Reading Competition and received a 1st Division Superior Rating on Stage and 1st Division Superior Rating in Sight Reading to earn them the top honors of sweepstakes!

On Thursday, April 14 the Wind Ensemble attended the Middle School Varsity Band UIL Concert & Sight Reading Competition and received a 1st Division Superior Rating on stage and 1st Division Superior Rating in Sight Reading to earn them the top honors of Sweepstakes!

Friday, April 28, Spanish classes are having a Salsa Competition and teachers are going to help with the voting for the best salsa.

Reaves Elementary
April 28 is Poem in Your Pocket day. We will each carry a poem with us all day at school to share with friends and teachers.

Snyder Elementary
This month’s Superstar Celebration for Character will be Thursday, April 28.    The third and fourth grade ceremony will be at 9 a.m. and the Pre-K through second grade ceremony will be at 2:15 p.m.  Congratulations to this month’s winners!

Join us for Field Day on Friday, April 29.
