Dr. Don Stockton
Superintendent of Schools
Conroe Independent School District
Dr. Don Stockton, Superintendent of Schools, has 24 years experience in all
areas of Conroe ISD, and 26 years experience in education overall. Dr.
Stockton has served as Interim Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent,
Campus Principal, Assistant Principal, teacher and coach.
Dr. Stockton received his Bachelor’s and Master of Science in
Education degrees from Purdue University. He obtained his Mid-Management
Certification from Sam Houston State University and his Doctorate of Education
in Administration from Texas A&M University.
Dr.
Stockton was principal of The Woodlands High School, and McCullough and Knox
Junior High Schools, and was assistant principal at McCullough, Knox Junior
High School and Oak Ridge High Schools, as well. As a teacher and coach, Dr.
Stockton taught math and physical education at Conroe High School and at
Travis Junior High. Prior to his service in Conroe ISD, Dr. Stockton taught in
Lafayette, Indiana.
In addition to his District responsibilities as
Superintendent, he volunteers on numerous educational and civic boards and
committees, including Junior Achievement Board of Southeast Texas, Fast-Growth
Coalition Steering Committee, Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce, The
Woodlands South County Chamber of Commerce, The Greater Conroe Economic
Development Council, the Education for Tomorrow Alliance, Montgomery
County Food Bank, and Montgomery
County United Way. He is also a member of The Woodlands Rotary Club and West
Conroe Baptist Church. He and his wife, Kara, who is a teacher at
McCullough Junior High School, have a daughter, Brooke.
Dr. Stockton has been selected to receive the 2004 Texas Counseling
Association Layperson Exemplary Service Award by counselors throughout the
state of Texas from the public school sector and private practice. He was
selected for the award based on his outstanding service he provides in the
promotion of guidance and counseling, his dedication to students, and his
visionary leadership. He has also been selected as the March 2005 Educator of
the Month for Texas School Business. Dr. Stockton was selected to
be the Grand Marshall for the 2007 Conroe Black History Month Parade. In
March of 2007, Dr. Stockton was honored by Interfaith of The Woodlands at the
annual Five Who Share Banquet for his impact in the field of education.
Most recently, Dr. Stockton has been named the Education Service Center Region
VI 2007 Superintendent of the Year, 2007 Texas Superintendent of the Year
Finalist, South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the
Year 2008, and Grand Marshall of the Kiwanis Club of Conroe Children's
Christmas Parade 2008.
