Dr.
Mel Brown, current First Vice President, is the President and C.E.O. of a
Management Consulting firm that provides training and technical assistance to
both governmental and private service organizations. Prior to starting his own
consulting practice, he served as Executive Director of the Montgomery County
Department of Community Supervision and Corrections.
Dr. Brown and his wife, Becky, both have a strong commitment to education and
to CISD as evidenced by the numerous hours they have spent volunteering in the
class room and serving on various campus-based and district-wide committees.
Their son, Brock, a graduate of Conroe High School, is a student at the
University of North Texas and their daughter, Blair, also
a graduate of Conroe High School, is a student at the University of Texas.
Both Dr. and Mrs. Brown are active in the community and have served on the
boards of numerous community agencies. Dr. Brown has served on the
Judicial Advisory Council for the state of Texas and on the Commission for
Accreditation for Corrections, a national accrediting organization for criminal
justice agencies. He is also a member of the Conroe Rotary Club where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow.
In
addition to the Doctor of Philosophy degree, Dr. Brown has earned a
baccalaureate and three Masters’ degrees. He has served as an adjunct faculty
member in the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University, the
Criminal Justice Department at The University of Texas at Arlington, the
College of Juvenile Justice and Psychology at Prairie View A&M University
and the Social Work Department in the School of
Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Dr.
Brown says that “I think a quality education is the ticket to a successful
future and it is important that every child has a ticket.”
Dr. Brown's term expires in 2010. |
